It's been awhile since I have played the KotOR series. I was wondering if with the new TSL Patcher and KMM, do we still use the Holowan Plugin then install all the other mods with TSL patcher?

Btw I only see Holowan Plugin 2, can't find an active connection for the original file (it was about twice the size iirc), thought we were intended to use both together.

Secondly I have seen the threads that offer suggestions of individual mods for KotOR 1 & 2 but are there suggestions on the most comprehensive install? E.g. (please don't take this as complaining, just curious) it's difficult to determine which are the best/most popular (even in functioning together if that's applicable).

The mods at FileFront/GamerFront don't seem to have a best of list similar to the Top 100 at Nexus Morrowwind, Oblivion, Fallout and Dragon Age. Also it's hard to see the KotOR 1 mods separately. Even if we needed to search the 29 pages in Taris Upper City Emporium, it might make it easier if they each had a subforum.

Thanks for all the work done here and any tips or links. :)

I'm rather new to the modding community and I never even heard of the Holowan Plugin before I read your post, so I don't know, whether it's still in use.

TSL Patcher can indeed help a lot to make mods compatible, IF it's configured well, but it can't perform wonders (for example it can't merge module-files).

I think the sheer number of mods for k1 and k2 is the main reason for the lack of mod-packs and such stuff.

There's a simple rule that pretty much ensures, that the mods you install will all work together: Don't overwrite ANY files!
So, install the mods that do not use TSLPatcher first and also always check the log of the Patcher for warnings about files, that already exist (it usually skips them, witch means that the mod most probably won't work).

KMM is not used much anymore, as far as I can tell. Mostly, the mods are simple skins that can just be dropped into the override, or are made using TSLPatcher and if done correctly are highly compatible with other mods.

You may find an old friend active here that has the Plugin mods for you, perhaps ChAiNz.2da has them... check his website, I believe it is still the same... wwwjumpstationzcom. Since 2002.... welcome back :)

Even if we needed to search the 29 pages in Taris Upper City Emporium, it might make it easier if they each had a subforum. It would be a substantive job, but I think dividing TUCE into subforums ((K1/TSL)(Skins,Textures/Restored Content/Storyline))would be a worthwhile endeavor.

As to a comprehensive install, that at this point, IMHO, is too tall an order! There are so many mods that modify the same things differently that there must be an accounting for taste! That being said, there are some mods you should not miss. I am not an active enough player anymore to be a good voice in recommendation, beyond the obvious choices, which will be the award winners and nominees from the last couple of years MOTY... look for Darth InSidious' thread in the TUCE.
Thanks for all the work done here and any tips or links. :)I haven't provided much, but the roadmap is simple!

Thanks for the replies and links.

Here's a link the to Holowan 2 and readme if your interested (http://old-republic.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=68&func=fileinfo&id=81). It's pretty extensive and this was the small file of the two, iirc Holowan 1 was 160meg.

There doesn't seem to be any sign of Holowan 1, even at the links you provided, maybe someone will have a copy.

There looks like a lot of great new mods to try, better get started. ;)
