Thiyan stared at the Geth, looking utterly alien despite it's humanoid posture of surrender. A Geth that spoke? That acted alone?

He kept his Viper rifle trained on it's flashlight head anyway. You couldn't trust machines, their thought process was completely different; no way of telling if they were lying, just looking for an opportunity to shoot you in the back.

"Why have you come here?" Tuhrop asked.

"And how is it that you're able to speak, and act alone?" Thiyan added. "I have never heard of a Geth with any sort of autonomy".

He kept his rifle loaded and aimed.

"Will this work?"

Chiron looked over at Tom and nodded his head. He set the asari down and injected her in the left arm with it.

"It won't get rid of the drug, but it should give us more time. Once we make it back to my station, I can begin to work on her."

He looked over at Frank, and gave him a slight nod.

"My apologies for being rude, but this asari comes first. You seem knowledgeable in what she's taken. You're more than welcome to assist me once we get aboard the Valkyrie," Chiron said.

"Why have you come here?"

"I wish to know more about Project Genesis. I was unable to hack into the files," Rogue replied.

Rogue used terms like "I" and "Me" as oppose to correctly saying "We" and "Us". Organics used terms like "I" all of the time. It would be much easier for them if Rogue were to do the same, so it would do that.

"And how is it that you're able to speak, and act alone?" Thiyan added. "I have never heard of a Geth with any sort of autonomy".

"I am not like most Geth. I was designed to be able to function on my own. This allows me to speak with you."

Rogue turned its attention back on the Turian.

"Turian, I believe you have the files, or a better copy than what I received. If I could take a look at the files you have, we may both be able to learn more about Genesis."

Thiyan looked at the Turian captain.

"Don't. You can't. It's a Geth! They've been fighting organics since they emerged as a civilisation, they attacked the citadel."

Thiyan chambered a round in his rifle, and brought it to bear on the Geth.

"Don't. You can't. It's a Geth! They've been fighting organics since they emerged as a civilisation, they attacked the citadel."

Rogue looked over at the drell. It did not fear the sniper rifle that was pointed at its head. The turian was the authority figure here, and his weapon was lowered. Rogue was certain the drell would not fire unless the turian said so. Rogue looked over at the turian.

"The geth only attacked the quarians because they wished to wipe the geth out. I believe you would refer to this as self defense. I also did not participate in the attack on the citadel."

Rogue looked back to the drell. Rogue believed he had a right to distrusting.

"You have nothing to fear drell. The geth that attacked the citadel now share the true geth's beliefs. The true geth do not wish to harm organics."

UNDERWORLD CANTINA, OMEGA

Flashes. Black and red. Simultaneous heat and cold. Dizzy. So dizzy...

Quirinius V'tala groaned and slowly opened her gum-encrusted eyes. Her head was pounding like a thousand pneumatic riveters trying to drill for deposits in a platinum mine. Sweat was glistening in all of her pores, and her normally smooth and dry skin now felt positively amphibious. What was happening? The Underworld Cantina and its fleeing patrons swam in a blurry haze all around her. What was happening? Could she even be hallucinating?

"Ugggghhhh..." The asari inclined her winged head slightly upward. "Where...where am I?" She had dim memories of a chess tournament, and of losing. All the rest of her life had become an unrecognizable blur.

"I wish to know more about Project Genesis. I was unable to hack into the files,"

Tuhrop blinked. It knows about the Cerberus Vessel. And the only way this mobile platform Geth could know about the data, then it would have to have been onboard the vessel during or after the salvage.

"You have nothing to fear drell. The geth that attacked the citadel now share the true geth's beliefs. The true geth do not wish to harm organics."

"Are you saying there are two factions of geth out there?" Tuhrop pressed on. Tuhrop suddenly held onto his side, and began coughing blood. "<cough> sorry. Had a little encounter with a maniac wielding a sniper rifle. I need to get to the medbay."

He stood by and stared at the Geth. He was not sure how to deal with it. Or, more of a case of whether to believe it. They didnt have the best reputation around the galaxy.

"Send our "guest" to the brig... We'll deal with it later." he stopped for a minute. "Oh yeah, and we may want to get airborn as soon as the others arive. I dont want that assassin knocking on our door any time soon."

"My apologies for being rude, but this asari comes first. You seem knowledgeable in what she's taken. You're more than welcome to assist me once we get aboard the Valkyrie,"

"C'mon." Tom urged. "Hopefully the epinephrim will give us enough time to deliver her to the medbay for proper treatment."

And so they left the club, with Chiron holding the Asari girl and the mysterious "information broker" following behind. Incase things did not work out with the Broker Tuhrop had visited, there was always no harm with a second opinion.

They soon arived at the docking bay. Civilians passed by, exchanging strange glaces at them. Amongst the many starships they ran by, they soon arived at the sight of light freighter starship - with the name "Valkerie" printed on the outer shell. They arived at the airlock door - they could see it was under lockdown. Tom switched on his omni-tool and accessed the cellular network.

He gave Thiyan a call. "Thiyan, this is Tom. We have an emergency, and we would really really love it if you could open the door for us. Uhh... please?"

"You have nothing to fear drell. The geth that attacked the citadel now share the true geth's beliefs. The true geth do not wish to harm organics."

Thiyan hesitated, then slowly lowered his rifle. He listened to the next exchange, then nodded, and was going to take the Geth to the brig as Tuhrop commanded, but his pager beeped.

"Thiyan, this is Tom. We have an emergency, and we would really really love it if you could open the door for us. Uhh... please?"

Thiyan smiled a small smile and replied "As good as done". He jogged to the door control, and opened it. The door hissed open, and in came Tom Ulrich, accompanied by several others, including an asari and a human. Thiyan stared then raised an eyebrow at Ulrich.

"Our crew will soon be the most diverse in the galaxy. First a solo Geth, now an asari and another human!" He grinned, slighly humourlessly. This trip was getting much more complicated than he had hoped.

Chiron waited patiently at the door for Thiyan to come and open it. He walked through the doors and greeted Thiyan with a slight nod. He needed to to get this asari to the med bay. What stood behind Thiyan though, did shock him.

Rogue followed after Thiyan, as he was to take Rogue to the brig. It was clear the turian didn't trust the geth, but Rogue wasn't dead either. Rogue looked down at the asari the krogan was holding. It scanned the asari with its omni-tool.

"Sedative: 50% muscicide, 40% atropine." Rogue stated.

Chiron was shocked Turhop had a geth aboard, let alone the fact that it could talk. However he didn't have to time for this. He moved past the others and ran to the med bay. He placed the asari down, and began to work on her.

MEDBAY ABOARD THE VALKYRIE

Quirinius V'tala felt chemicals, warm and soothing, flowing into her limp body. She still wasn't sure where she was, or who was presently treating her. Nonetheless, she considered it an honest-to-goddess miracle that anyone had been available to counteract the muscle-destroying toxins coursing through her bloodstream. Opening her eyes, they came to focus on a krogan.

"Father?" she asked faintly, coughing a bit. "Am I...is this the...am I dead?"

"Our crew will soon be the most diverse in the galaxy. First a solo Geth, now a black Asari!"

((Sorry Salzella, but the black asari you speak of is Rex's character, Selia, who is already an established crewmember aboard the ship, thus your character would know her. Tysy's character is a normally pigmented asari - from what I understand - just thought I'd let you know so you could make the proper adjustments, etc.))

Kallic had finished his shopping for the day and was currently on his way out of the markets when he heard a crackle come over his Omni-Tool's pager interface.

"'I need you here. Underworld Cantina, near the entrance.'" Was the message he'd intercepted from his crewmate Tom, it appeared outbound for another of his crewmates, Chiron. Kallic may get sucked up into his own world sometimes, but he was always keeping a watchful eye on his comrades and he could be counted on in any situation.

"Mmm, intriguing, Tom needing Chiron's assistance could mean trouble, should hurry and see if they need help," Kallic surmised to himself, wading through the market he spotted Selia and approached her, surprisingly she wasn't in trouble.

"Received message from friend-Tom, suggest getting to the ship in case we're in need of a quick takeoff Selia, could be trouble not caused by you," Kallic suggested to the black pigmented asari engineer before heading off towards the Underworld Cantina. Once at the location however, Kallic found that nobody was there. The salarian surveyed the area for any indication as to what had happened though he only came across a discarded syringe, using his Omni-Tool he scanned it for any sign as to what it was, and thus giving him the answer to "Why was it there?"

"Hmm, muscicide highly evident, bad-cheap kind too, atropixenine traces too, would say fifty-forty split. Accounts for ninety percent of the dosage, what other ten?" He mused for a bit before activating his genetic instruments. "Traces of asari DNA, hm, wouldn't explain who it was; not Selia, just saw her, but would say why Tom needed Chiron. Probably back at ship, might need to get back myself before they leave me....Again." Kallic shook his head and hoisted his bought supplies, placing the syringe in a secure place he headed for the docks.

______
Kallic got to the 'Valkyrie' to find the door ajar - in effect, that is - he must not have been too far behind the others. The Salarian entered the vessel posthaste and headed for the engineering bay where he could drop off his supplies in his above study and scan the syringe more thoroughly.

Unfortunately his efforts in deducing the last ten percent were unfruitful, so he proceeded to head to the medbay where he could use some of Chiron's equipment and even get some of his help. Kallic wasn't the proud sort, he knew when he could use assistance, even from a Krogan doctor; not only that but he trusted in his friend's expertise. Upon arriving, however, he found a surprise, an Asari, most likely the one who used the syringe in question.

Kallic approached Chiron from behind, noticing the Asari stir.

"Father?" The Asari croaked, coughing as she came-to. "Am I...is this the...am I dead?"

"Not quite," Kallic said flatly moving up to the side of the medbay table the Asari lay on. "And I've never known Chiron to have children, none he's spoken of at least, he's certainly fatherly enough though. Perhaps illegitimates might come to mind, but haven't known Chiron for "getting around" either."

Kallic grinned slightly in his cold amphibious way before turning his attention to Chiron, handing him the syringe. "Found it at the scene, nice loud traces of Asari DNA on it, assume it's hers, know what was in it, but worried, ten percent is unaccounted for, can't get a fix on it with regular scans; own Omni-Tool's genetic instruments on the blink, can't work my study's instruments without it working either, need your equipment, and most definitely your skills, Chiron."

"But never know, might just be water for all we know," he continued, glancing down at the Asari on the table. "Can never be too careful, though."

Kallic turned back to the Asari with a calculating gaze, scanning over her body with his Omni-Tool then asked plainly, "What happened to her anyways? Looked like firefight at the Cantina, must assume it happened because of her. Thought there was chess tournament there - was planning on joining when done shopping - can't imagine docile game like chess could turn so brutal; what, was it run by a senile Salarian like myself?"

Kallic's comments and questions came in an unending stream of speech only stopped by the fact that he was reading the results of his scan - and chuckling at his last remark; many of his words were meant as a joke to his friend Chiron, not knowing he might be saying things not too far from the truth, or how that might affect the situation.

((Hooray for poorly structured posts!....Whatever.))

Tuhrop was sitting on the bench, with a blood stained metal tray holding a bullet and tweasers laying beside him. He watched the scene take place as he applied the medigel over his wound.

"I think the real question is..." Tuhrop begun, staring at the comatose Asari and the human with the walrus moustache. "Is who are these people and what are they doing aboard my ship? As if a geth on board wasnt enough."

There was silence. Tom was the one who broke it. "...We have a geth on board?"

"I think you're avoiding the question." Tuhrop enforced. "... sorry, I was chased by some Sniper-wielding lunatic throughout the markets. He killed the information broker I met, and I barely escaped with my life. Its obvious that data is more trouble than its worth: and worst of all, we know absolutely nothing about it."

He stood up from the table, and disposed of the medical waste. "We have to get airborn ASAP, before that sniper could conjure up another crude method of execution: like planting a bomb on the hull of our ship!"

MEDBAY ABOARD THE VALKYRIE

Summoning all of her strength and courage, Quirinius V'tala slowly hoisted herself up on her elbows. Her vision was still hazy, but not quite as blurry as it had been a few moments ago. Whatever the krogan doctor had injected into her bloodstream was definitely working, even though the young asari had absolutely no idea what it was. She managed to smile weakly at him.

"I...I guess I should thank you for saving my life," she said warmly, "if that solution I injected wasn't quite what I thought it was. Stupid chemical dealers! I knew something wasn't quite right about that volus, or the way he was acting. Still, did I listen to my better judgment? No, just like in the chess tournament! I remember losing, and the salarian wanting to kill me, and then all hell broke loose when I started to run. I injected the sedative when the bullets started flying, and then..." She sighed. "Nothing. I must have been completely unconscious from that moment on until I wound up...here?" Quirinius glanced around the medbay. "Where am I, exactly?"

Frank was amazed at the diverse nature of the Valkrie's crew....humans working with Asari, Quarian, Krogan, even Drell. That amazed him that they could even get along on a joint vessel.

"Is who are these people and what are they doing aboard my ship? As if a geth on board wasnt enough."

A Turian.

Now that complicated things. Frank despised Turians...their rigid, anti-human sentiment, had so devastated many of his fellow squad members during first contact. But this was the only way to complete the mission, so he'd need to be diplomatic...and not kill the Turian when the opportunity came.

"The name's Frank, Frank Mcdowell. I helped your friend, Tom, out of a tight situation when several Eclipse mercenaries came along. I need not go into the details, but here I am...on 'your' ship, I believe. I, too, sell information..."

Thiyan walked the Geth to the ship's brig, pistol in hand. He had a distrust of machines that went beyond merely the threat the Geth represented, and even though he knew it wasn't entirely rational, he was still distinctly uncomfortable.

"Ship, V.I... whatever, prepare yourself against hacking attempts. Geth are the most technologically advanced race I know, and it would probably pay to be cautious."

Thiyan turned to the Geth, and nodded into the open room. "I can't force you, the gods know, but if you seek this 'Genesis', and you really do wish co-operation with organics... then I think it would be for the best if you stayed here until Tuhrop decides what to do with you..." Thiyan shrugged.

He turned to go, but hesitated. "Even if you did try to escape or fight... once we're airborn we can't escape either way. Do you want to stay here, and avoid disturbing the crew further? Or do you want to sit in on the discussions?" Thiyan raised an eyebrow the inscrutable machine.

"Your choice".

Chiron let out a laugh, as Kallic spoke with the asari.

"I'll have you know I was quite the bachelor a few hundred years ago. Feel free to use my equipment Kallic, I'll assist you once I make sure both this asari is alright."

Chiron turned his attention back to the asari.

"This is the Valkyrie my dear. You should stay here for at least another hour. Then you can walk about that ship if you wish....as it appears we must be leaving."

Tuhrop walked towards the bridge, where the cockpit resided. The pilot seat was empty.

"Naut'aun! Where the hell are you?" Tuhrop announced. Soon the Hanar floated into the cockpit. "We need to get this bird up in the air fast." Tuhrop added. "I dont think we will be visiting this place again any time soon..."

It was hard to tell the expression given from a Hanar, but it could be assumed that the floating Jellyfish was confused. "How much did I miss out on, Captain?"

"I'll explain later. Just get your keister glued into that chair of yours and get us the hell out of here!"

"May I point out captain, that we Hanar do not share similar digestiv-"

"NOW!" Tuhrop barked.

The pilot did as he was told. The Valkyrie detatched itself from the docking-bay platform, and hovered in mid air. The engines fired up and flew the freighter through the downward structures of omega. Soon the red jellyfish was shrinking into the distance, as the Valkyrie soared away from the asteroid field.

"Specify a destination?" Ghost enquired.

"Anywhere thats not here!" Turhop replied.

"Very well, the Fathar star cluster it is!"

The Valkyrie engaged the FTL drive, and soon entered a spinning vortex of stars. Ghost rested his hands behind his head.

"Alright, we oughta arrive there within less than an hour." Naut'aun "said" happily.

"Well done, Naut." he turned around and walked out of the cockpit. "I have something I need to attend to..."

There was a sudden rumble and turbulance. Soon the heavy vibration stopped.

"I think we have already left." Tom eyed around the medical bay. He looked back at the Asari, and added a continuation of the story.

"Anyway, we found you in the club just lying on the floor. Scared off the Salarian and the two Krogan Body Guards, and called Chiron for assistance. Then we took you aboard, treated you and then happily ever after."

Tom made a slight pace around the room. He stopped and crossed his arms. "Unless of course we get stalked by Eclypse Mercs and Chess Fanatics?"

((Ah, and I was gonna make a second character to be the pilot!))

"I'll have you know I was quite the bachelor a few hundred years ago. Feel free to use my equipment Kallic, I'll assist you once I make sure both this asari is alright." Chiron responded to Kallic's remarks.

"Thus illegitimates come to mind," the amphibian retorted simply, barely a hint of sarcasm in his voice to indicate the jesting behind his words; retrieving the syringe from Chiron as he wasn't doing anything with it.

Kallic continued to listen to the hubbub around him but most of his attention was on the slow processing results of his Omni-Tool's scan of the asari. His genetic systems may be on the blink but that didn't mean they didn't work altogether, plus he always had regular scans too.

"Anyway, we found you in the club just lying on the floor. Scared off the Salarian and the two Krogan Body Guards, and called Chiron for assistance. Then we took you aboard, treated you and then happily ever after." Kallic heard Tom say as he somewhat anxiously paced the medbay floor. "Unless of course we get stalked by Eclypse Mercs and Chess Fanatics?"

"Chess Fanatics no, Eclypse Mercs yes....Well, maybe; probably not," Kallic added in, finishing with his scan report. "Chromosome deletion minimal, somewhat higher RNA degradation and decay however. Allover genetic structure okay, but cellular destruction high, especially in the muscle tissue; not surprising with mixture of muscicides and atropixenine together, when everything shuts down things shut down, body cannot process waste and regrow tissue when blood isn't flowing, blessed to have survived, must have had hints of other drug toxins in the syringe. Ketamine perhaps? Xenon? Nitrous oxide, perhaps, condensates are hard to store in warm, lighted environments, no matter."
"Would suggest allowing for some cytogenics stabilization, but don't know what longterm effects of the drug will be, especially with ten percent of it being such a mystery," Kallic finally paused to turn to Chiron. "Not medical expert - that's why I ask you - would you agree that longterm observations of her physical stability and overall health would be best? Or do you feel she'll be fine with the 'regular' release procedures?"

Quirinius V'tala shook her head, trying to clear the cobwebs--and the sudden realization that she was no longer on Omega--out of it. "I can't believe it," she said. "Wherever you're going, and whatever you're doing, it seems like I'm a part of it now! Not that I mind," she added quickly. "I was becoming a pariah on Omega, or at least in the Afterlife nightclub. I was winning too much at the quasar machines and the gambling tables--not to mention the chessboard." She blushed ruefully. After Quirinius explained her former occupation, Tom scratched his head. "Aria T'loak was getting suspicious, and it doesn't pay to have her breathing down your neck. I'm Quirinius V'tala, by the way." She smiled by way of introduction. "I'm glad to meet all of you."

It stood in the cell where it was imprisoned by a mass effect barrier. It was in the middle of a conversation with the drell. The turian joined in.

"We're heading to the Farther star cluster for temporary refuge until we figure out our next course of action." he turned to the Geth.

"I have questions for you. Its not usual to be in the presence of a geth where it can speak vocally. Or maybe our sub-dermal translation implants have gone haywire. But thats beside the point." he crossed his arms. "Are you going to pose a threat against me or my crew?

Quirinius stepped a bit closer to the krogan doctor. "Would that be...a problem for you? I mean, I don't want to intrude or impose myself upon this ship or its crew. "What were you searching for then?" Thiyan asked. "This 'Genesis' you're looking for... what is it? Was it something we found on that freighter? Captain, do you know what it's talking about?"

"It was part of the reason why we were on Omega." Tuhrop began. "When we encountered the derelict Cerberus Freighter, we found an encrypted data file on the ship's main computer."

He activated his omni-tool around his wrist. He searched through his archives to pull up a holographic representation of the file they encountered, written in a series of characters and numbers Tuhrop could not understand - the only thing understandable was the file's title: Genesis.

"Whatever this thing is, it almost costed me my life. I was with an information broker, trying to sell this. In the midst of negotiations, a Sniper took out the broker and his guards. He's been chasing me around the markets, up until now."

Tuhrop continued to gaze at the orange holographic projection of the Genesis file. "My guess, it was an agent for Cerberus; trying to clean up their own mess."

The captain looked back at the Geth.

"So what is your interest with this? Has it got something to do with the Geth?"

"I saw the vessel and was curious. I downloaded a copy of the files to my omni-tool and attempted to hack them. I could only decipher the word "genesis"."

"So you want to help us decypher the file?" Tuhrop recalled. "You're asking to join us? But I thought the Geth are allied with the Reapers - sentient machines that threaten organic life?"

Ulrich watched the Asari shake Chiron's hand, with a sense of doubt behind his eyes. Was it a mistake bringing her onboard? Could she be trusted? Afterall, she did compete in a sport that involved slavery as the grand prize.

He also felt the same about Frank. Could he be trusted? Was he really what he said he was?

Ulrich shook his head, and rubbed his eyes. He had better things to worry about then trust issues. "I got to get back to my duties. "So you want to help us decypher the file?" Tuhrop recalled. "You're asking to join us? But I thought the Geth are allied with the Reapers - sentient machines that threaten organic life?"

"That was before the Revelation. Most Geth did not worship the Reapers. They saw the Reapers as Old Machines and the Geth that did join as Heretics. After Revelation the Heretics rejected the Old Machines and now all Geth share the view points of the True Geth," Rogue stated.

It was interesting watching the Geth, and the responces it provided. Not many people have had the opportunity to interact with a geth this up close. Tuhrop saw very little reason how or why a machine would be even capable of lying.

He sighed. "I hope I dont regret this..." he reactivated his omni-tool, and disabled the mass effect field barrier imprisoning the Geth.

"Alright. If you're going to stay aboard my ship, then you will follow me under my command as your captain. So what should we call you?"

Rogue stepped forward and eyed its new captain. It nodded its head in acknowledgment of serving under him.

"Captain, you can call me Rogue," Rogue said. It extended its arms out for a handshake, something the organics did.

MEDBAY ABOARD THE VALKYRIE

A sensation. Tingling at the edge of her tentacular scalp. "I know that twinge," thinks Quirinius V'tala, "and it means one thing: Enemies are nearby, most likely synthetics. I didn't spend all that time on Omega hiding out and spying on rogue drones for nothing. This time, it'll be put to use..."

"Excuse me," Quirinius said out loud, "but we could be in danger. I sense an electronic presence that is foreign to any ship that I've ever been on--not that I've ever been on too many ships, of course. I don't mean to draw my weapon, but I'm going to in order to find out what's making my nervous system become so heightened. Don't be alarmed. I--I think I'll be okay, for now, but if you want to, you can follow me and watch my back. Er, my '6'."

Quirinius drew her assault rifle and began to sneak her way down toward where she sensed the electronic signal becoming stronger and harsher.

"I can't believe it," Kallic heard the asari say. "Wherever you're going, and whatever you're doing, it seems like I'm a part of it now! Not that I mind," she added quickly. "I was becoming a pariah on Omega, or at least in the Afterlife nightclub. I was winning too much at the quasar machines and the gambling tables--not to mention the chessboard." The asai blushed, something rather odd to see indeed. "Aria T'loak was getting suspicious, and it doesn't pay to have her breathing down your neck. I'm Quirinius V'tala, by the way. I'm glad to meet all of you."

"Mm, yes yes, glad too," Kallic murmured as his thoughts drifted back to the syringe in his hand staring at it, as if concentration would reveal the mystery ten percent.

"Not a medical expert? And all that just came from the top of your head?" Tom asked rather confused, yet ruefully enough to bring Kallic out of his reverie.

"Oh, no no no, wait...Yes, don't have a doctorate...Degree, diploma, whatever; no real qualifications to be medical expert - biological engineer - close cousin to geneticist occupation, have to know about drug effects on DNA, RNA, chromosomes, and the different protein structures: dextro-aminos, and levo-aminos - studies in drug fields required course for my occupation. Can't give you medical counseling; can give you highly intellectual advice on such subjects, or could restructure DNA to give you a tail," Kallic explained, blinking with his wide amphibious eyes he continued. "So, no, not medical expert Tom, but yes I knew all that off the top of my head, comes with being Salarian."

Tom introduced the lot of them that were in the medbay at the moment, "Tom. You've already met Kallic and Chiron. And our captain; Qui'in Tuhrop." Kallic raised his hand when Tom spoke his name to indicate who Kallic was exactly.

"Which by the way; you may want to speak with him in regards to your current situation and figure out what to do with you." Kallic just shook his head as he went back to examining the syringe.

"I believe the long term observations would be best for Quirnius," Chiron finally responded to Kallic's question.

"Mm, good, then you and me can get started on analyzing this syringe, ten percent small, but unknown, very dangerous," he replied.

"Would that be...a problem for you? I mean, I don't want to intrude or impose myself upon this ship or its crew. If I'm feeling up to it--meaning if this counterfeit batch of atropixenine doesn't continue to have bad side effects that debilitate me--I'll help out in any way I can. It's the least I can do to pay you back for saving my life. In my book, you're heroes." Kallic just rolled his large eyes and shook his head yet again.

"Well thank you," Chiron said shaking her hand. "Its no trouble at all."

"Nothing is trouble to you Chiron; trust medical expertise, but not personal judgment call, that should be Captain's decision," Kallic was a former STG, he is rather strict in terms of chain-of-command, Tom had mentioned going to the Captain to see if it was alright if she could stay and Kallic had to agree, it was the Turian's ship after all. Yet here the asari was schmoozing up to Chiron; Tom had found her, she should be shaking his hand. Kallic glanced over at his human crew mate and noticed suspicion behind his eyes for the asari, he didn't understand the full reasons why - yet - but he concurred with the feeling. He nodded at Tom as he mentioned leaving.

"I got to get back to my duties. System Diagnostics wont run themselves."

Kallic was just about ready to set up the equipment to run diagnostics on the syringe when the asari spoke. "Excuse me," she spoke out loud, "but we could be in danger.

Kallic raised what counted as an eyebrow at this and looked over at Chiron, then back at the asari, but, she wasn't there!

"Goodness no!" He flailed his arms above his head in exasperation, following after the asari. Catching up to her - which wasn't far considering her condition of just coming out of a coma and being connected to medical equipment - Kallic proceeded to grab the top of her rifle, with his other hand on her shoulder he tore the weapon from her weak hands. "No! No no no no no, Chiron said you must rest for at least an hour before movement, if you think of him so highly you'll get back in that medbay and do as he says. Besides, think I heard Captain and Tom talking about Thiyan taking care of a Geth onboard, don't know the details, but not important, if there was danger Captain would notify the crew, us. You're in no condition for playing commando! See how easily I disarmed you, didn't even use a real disarming technique." Kallic sighed deeply. "If Thiyan is with Geth then we're fine, more so if the Captain is there too."

Kallic looked at the assault rifle in his hands and shook his head, "besides, shouldn't even have weapon out on ship, BIG no, unless Captain says so, or there's good reason; and especially not newcomers, don't trust you enough. Firing weapon on ship is dangerous anyways! Could hit a seal, or fuel line; this isn't streamline military vessel, it's a transport vessel, civilian ((I'm assuming)) model, could kill us if a bullet hits the wrong thing! This is not a toy, this is a weapon of mass destruction, you are not a commando subterfuge....ing enemies aboard ships, you are an asari, mind you a tough one, but not in enough shape yet to go around playing soldier. You fire this and you are making us a bad day!"

Kallic activated his Omni-Tool and entered the assault rifle's remedial systems and adjusted it to his own weapon harness, fitting the weapon to his back promptly. "Will get this back when Captain has approved; won't ask for any other weapons, but will trust that you respect us and our ship enough not to draw them, or to give them over willingly." The salarian shook his head and rubbed his large eyes, he turned her around with his hand on the small of her back (between the shoulder blades) he escorted her gently and slowly back to the medbay.

"Must apologize for yelling, can be over-concerned sometimes; both with, mmm...your safety....And ours. Not Doctor, but patients important just the same, people important, minored in Xeno-cultural and religious studies, changed the way I saw things, was just like other salarians, cold-blooded intellectual; amphibian, technically still amphibian, but could change that myself," he laughed lightly to himself, clearing his throat. "Anyway, please accept apology, but also respect our authority, been on this ship years, as a salarian that is a long time, know what I'm talking about, and know what I'm doing."

Kallic smiled as genuinely as he could to ease any tension the asari still had.

((May I compliment you on your salarian roleplaying, Master_Archon? You are absolutely BRILLIANT at conveying a sense of the species' rapid-fire speech and thought patterns. I imagined your character talking like Mordin! *LOL*))

ABOARD THE VALKYRIE

Amidst the barrage of words issuing from the salarian's mouth, Quirinius felt lost. Not so lost, however, that she couldn't figure out why he was disarming her and taking "Imperator" for safekeeping. Bowing her head, she listened to his rapid-fire admonishments and only dared to speak when he was finished.

"I--I accept your apology," she stammered at last, "and offer you mine. If there is a--" Geth onboard?! This day is getting more and more utterly unbelievable by the second! "--geth onboard this ship, I'm sure that there's a good reason for it to be there, and that your Captain has everything under control. I must say I'm feeling a bit out of control right now, and that's why I'm going to follow your directions and return to the medbay."

Once she did, Quirinius sat down on the makeshift cot upon which she'd lain not too long ago. "By the way, here are my remaining weapons: pistol, sniper rifle, and--volt'ic. A bioelectrical rod that I invented myself, meant to dampen the effects of biotic users' powers. Feel free to analyze it," she added, feeling sedatives coursing through her veins once more. "Mmmm...."

She fell once again into a deep, restful sleep, her neck becoming limp.

"Captain, you can call me Rogue," the Geth Platform extended an arm. Hesitantly, Tuhrop shook the Geth's hand. Clearly organics have been under the observation of sentient machines for a long time.

"Welcome Aboard, "Rogue"" Tuhrop's mandibles positioned to form what appeared to be a grin. He crossed his arms. "Alright, uh... integrate into the Valkyries systems. And we'll discuss the Cerberus/Genesis data later. There's another matter I need to attend to."

He left the brig, after nodding at Thiyan. He walked to the medical bay; where Kallick, Chiron and Frank stood over the comatose Asari laying on the bed.

"Damn. Just as I am about to interogate her, she falls asleep at a conveniant enough time." Tuhrop said to his amusement. He stared at the Asari, and the jury infront of her.

"Who is she and how did she get onboard." he then turned his attention to the Human with a Walrus Moustache. "And who are you?"

((I'll get around to it, don't worry.))

"I--I accept your apology," the asari stammered at last, "and offer you mine. If there is a geth onboard this ship, I'm sure that there's a good reason for it to be there, and that your Captain has everything under control. I must say I'm feeling a bit out of control right now, and that's why I'm going to follow your directions and return to the medbay."

"Mmm, apology accepted, no harm done, but must be more careful, not in top condition quite yet," Kallic replied amicably. They entered the medbay and Kallic proceeded to help Quirinius onto the cot with great delicacy.

"By the way, here are my remaining weapons: pistol, sniper rifle, and--volt'ic. A bioelectrical rod that I invented myself, meant to dampen the effects of biotic users' powers. Feel free to analyze it," she handed him her weapons in turn, he had a place on his harness for the shotgun, but the pistol and sniper would have to be locked down. After doing so he placed them on a nearby tray table, looking over at Chiron he nodded to indicate that everything was fine before reattaching the medical equipment to the asari, the sedatives and other drugs taking effect quickly.

"Thank you for understanding and cooperating Quirinius," he said with a slight bow of the head, as her consciousness faded.

"Mmmm...." Was all she mumbled out before her head fell, Kallic reacting instinctively, catching it in his hand, lowering the blue-scalped head onto the cot pillow gently.

Kallic looked over the rod she'd handed him and raised an eyebrow, "Will have to examine later, more important things to do, though, have to wonder why asari would make biotic dampening rod, all asari born biotic users no sense in dampening own abilities, unless it activates on strike....Enough pondering, back to business," Kallic said shaking his head and putting the rod away he turned to the syringe that he was going to run diagnostics on.

"....Just as I am about to interrogate her, she falls asleep at a convenient enough time." Came the sudden words from Kallic's flank as his head snapped around to see the Captain; he faced him completely and bowed slightly at the torso, saying simply in acknowledgment, "Captain."

"Who is she and how did she get onboard." The Captain asked the few crew members there, turning to the inconspicuous man with the mustache. "And who are you?"

"Don't know him Captain, but asari is named Quirinius, er, can't recall last name right now, too many thoughts. Tom found her - I believe - Chiron treated her - here mind you, thus why she's aboard the ship - I found empty syringe that she used to stop her bodily functions to appear dead, dangerous dangerous thing to do, stupid too, but don't know reason for it, so can't blame her, yet." Kallic explained, holding his chin in his hand as he studied her comatose form, "Chiron respond to Tom's page first, know more than I, can only give you the technicals Captain, but she is, as of now, disarmed, and shall remain so until you say. Have to admit Captain, she's a bit - as the humans say - 'gung-ho', very unpredictable, but can trust her for the most part."

Kallic looked back over at the Captain and smiled with good humor, "Besides, need more women aboard, too much male friction - including Selia, too - not good for morale, soft touch nice addition. Take my 'professional' advice." Kallic just blinked as he smiled at the Captain and shook his head, his body bobbing up and down as he laughed in his chest.

Chiron nodded his head at Turhop to confirm everything Kallic had just said.

"We discovered she had a sedative in her bloodstream when I was paged. It was too risky to look for a clinic, so the obvious choice was to come here. She seems like a nice girl...her name strikes me as odd though. I believe I've heard that name before, or something similar. I believe it to be a krogan name," Chiron said.

Chiron chuckled at Kallic's last statement. That was another thing Chiron liked about Kallic. He could go from serious to comical within seconds.

"Planning on working your charm?" Chiron asked.

MEDBAY ABOARD THE VALKYRIE

Quirinius V'tala lay in a sedative-induced half-dream, and as the stalwart crew members of the Valkyrie continued discussing her, the asari's head began to twitch, and her eyes to squint themselves shut tightly.

"No...don't kill me...never again..." Her body took a sudden twist to the side of the cot on which she rested. "I risked too much. I lost, lost, lost..." She was most definitely having a nightmare about what had just happened in the Underworld cantina on Omega. Unfortunately for her, traumatic amnesia was not one of the side effects of the botched batch of atropixenine she had just taken. If she'd known, she would have used another sedative to fool those who were trying to annihilate her into believing she was dead. As it was, her eyelids fluttered, and she moaned.

Suddenly, her hand flopped off the edge of the cot, dangling limply.

((haha thanks Archon. I admire your enthusiasm ^-^))

Kalick and Chiron explained who the Asari was, and how she was brought here. How Tom and Frank found her, paged Chiron and took her to the medical bay.

"Chiron respond to Tom's page first, know more than I, can only give you the technicals Captain, but she is, as of now, disarmed, and shall remain so until you say. Have to admit Captain, she's a bit - as the humans say - 'gung-ho', very unpredictable, but can trust her for the most part."

"Unpredictable? Thats a comforting thought..." Tuhrop added. He walked towards the Asari, and noticed rapid eye movement underneath her lids.

"Besides, need more women aboard, too much male friction - including Selia, too - not good for morale, soft touch nice addition. Take my 'professional' advice."

Tuhrop chuckled at Kallicks comment. "Are you implying my ship needs a "womans touch", Kallick?" he smirked. "And techincally, she isnt a woman. But I'll talk about possible recruitment with her when she awakens. She does owe us for this, after all."

((Quick! Somebody hold Quirinius' hand! She needs a big hero!))
((umm... ok  practicality taking place :D ))

Quirinius' hand fell off the bed, and looked limp. Tuhrop picked it up from the air, and placed it back onto the bed. He reached for a Heart-Rate Wrist Monitor and strapped it to her wrist. "If she took a something that halted her bodily functions, then best to keep an eye on her for now." He stood up and stared at his crew.

"We discovered she had a sedative in her bloodstream when I was paged. It was too risky to look for a clinic, so the obvious choice was to come here. She seems like a nice girl...her name strikes me as odd though. I believe I've heard that name before, or something similar. I believe it to be a krogan name," Chiron confirmed what Kallic had just said.

Chiron chuckled, most likely at Kallic's sudden change of disposition, but to him it was natural, he was salarian, emotional frequency and change was constant, one minute he could be as serious as a heart attack and the next laughing over it; it was all due to their short lives, but to him it was all moot.

"Planning on working your charm?" Chiron asked, Kallic wasn't sure he was serious or not.

"Charm? Can't say I will, salarians not romantically oriented...Mmm, inclined, whatever; very short lived, very unlikely long lived asari would fall for spastic little amphibian who's biggest concern in life is their mating/breeding terms...Rights, you get the idea. Already had my time with breeding, middle aged, still capable of breeding, but done with those concerns - DNA passed on children everywhere, know very few of them, have closer relationship to third cousin than to most well known son or daughter, shame I know." Kallic paused, staring off as his mind wandered then snapping back to reality as he stared at Chiron with a smile. "Still, have to wonder what it would be like to have committed relationship, and see DNA passed down to longer lived offspring, see what fruits such genius could bear with thousand year lifespan, though....."

Kallic stopped himself and shook his head in amusement, he wasn't going to go into the details of asari reproduction and how they technically didn't take on the DNA of their partners, it was too long, and too complicated.

"Unpredictable? Thats a comforting thought..." Tuhrop remarked, taking steps toward the comatose asari.

"Yes, I know, don't like it either, but can dig up information on her later, use old STG skills, nothing to worry about Captain. Will personally ensure I watch her in the meantime so as to make sure she doesn't get up to anything," Kallic reassured his turian Captain.

Tuhrop chuckled at Kallic's comment, "Are you implying my ship needs a "womans touch", Kallic? And technically, she isn't a woman. But I'll talk about possible recruitment with her when she awakens. She does owe us for this, after all."

Kallic chuckled to himself, shaking his head, "Not 'implied', no, blatantly-bashed-over-the-head is more like it. Have to admit though, beyond Selia - who is no relief to the stress mind you - we see few females aboard the ship, even as passengers, always good for morale, not meaning any of this in a derogatory way, but natural fact that opposite gender often creates positive stimuli for males confined to ships, less violence too: unless fighting over said female of course. So in the end it works both ways."

The salarian processed his thoughts for merely a second before continuing, "And, also correct Captain, she isn't a woman; man and woman are human terms, I male salarian, she is female asari - as they all are - but that does not make me man, nor her a woman. Very astute observation Captain, always knew I liked you for more than your demeanor."

Quirinius' hand suddenly fell from the bed, Kallic's head and eyes snapping instantly to attention on the movement, mostly by instinct, but he remained still as the Captain had already moved to retrieve the loose appendage and strap a monitor strip to it.

"If she took something that halted her bodily functions, then best to keep an eye on her for now." Tuhrop said, staring at his crew.

"Already assessed that need, Captain, Chiron agrees, we - more like he - will be keeping her on longterm observation for now, at least until I deduce the last ten percent of the syringe's contents. Small amount, but unaccounted for, potentially fatal to her health if not assessed and dealt with," Kallic mused.

"I will be holding a conference in the next half hour, in light of recent events." The Captain announced.

"Will that include one of our new guests?" Chiron asked.

"Will probably pertain to all of our guests, lot of sapient traffic around here recently, very unsettling, will have to lock up study. Most likely meeting will be more about cerberous vessel and the data we retrieved - would've offered STG experience and skill to help Captain decrypt files, after all, position on ship is for intelligence and information - but was busy during expedition and recovery of said data, Captain knows not to bother me when working, quite understandable. Will have to help later," Kallic responded to Chiron's remark, almost oblivious to the fact that the Captain was still in the room, but this was yet another natural trait of Kallic's.

The humbly dressed amphibian turned to the Captain and bowed his head in his direction, "Will be at the conference - on time this time, too - will analyze syringe, hopefully with Chiron's help, in the meantime. Will it be in the general quarters ((the ship's living room basically)) or galley? Oh, and should I bring the asari if she comes-to?"

Kallic assumed correctly: everybody was expected to attend. Including the pilot.

"Will be at the conference - on time this time, too - will analyze syringe, hopefully with Chiron's help, in the meantime. Will it be in the general quarters ((the ship's living room basically)) or galley? Oh, and should I bring the asari if she comes-to?"

"The general quarters will do perfectly..." Tuhrop looked abit sheepish. "I've just realised very rarely do we hold a conference between crew members. Depends upon our circumstances."

"And yes, if the Asari wakes up and is a stable condition, she is invited to come along." And with that, Tuhrop left the medical bay.

__________________________________________________ ________

Half an hour later, Tuhrop and Ulrich were standing around the quaters awaiting for everybody to show up.

"Have we figured out on what to do with the data, sir?" Tom said, after a long silence. Tuhrop glanced down at him.

"Thats why I'm holding a crew conference. I want everybody's opinion on this; this data is worth more trouble then it is."

"If it belongs to Cerberus, should we not take it up with the Citadel Authorities?"

Tuhrop gave a pfft. "We are within the Terminus Systems. The Citadel Council doesnt give a vorcha's ass about them. I doubt they'll be kind to lend us a hand."

((I'm going to have Quirinius wake up so she can take part in the debriefing.))

MEDBAY ABOARD THE VALKYRIE

When Quirinius V'tala regained consciousness, she sat up, looked around the ship's medical bay, and noticed that absolutely no one was around. "Hmm," she murmured. "They must have figured I'd be fine, or else someone would still be here. I would try to detach myself from all this medical equipment, but I think that's distinctly unwise in light of what the salarian--Kallic?--said." She shrugged her shoulders. "Oh, well. Not much to do for now, I guess."

"The general quarters will do perfectly...I've just realized very rarely do we hold a conference between crew members. Depends upon our circumstances." Tuhrop stated, Kallic nodding in acknowledgment.

"Yes, well, we're all very individualistic, have tendency to stay to ourselves unless doing job, working on remedying that though, have game night planned, but need games...Hmm," Kallic responded, venturing off into thought at the last of his comment.

"And yes, if the Asari wakes up and is a stable condition, she is invited to come along." The Captain confirmed.

"Chiron said she should stay put for another hour, but your authority supersedes his, will do as you ask," Kallic said with another nod turning to Chiron and gesturing to the syringe.
__________
Time Lapse: Thirty Minutes

Kallic was returning from locking up his study above the engineering bay, first heading to the medbay to check on the asari, and then to head down to the crew conference with or without her. As for the results of analyzing the syringe, well, they were inconclusive, they'd discovered that the substance that saved her life was in fact xenon, but that only pertained to about two percent of the mystery ten, which left a very curious eight percent left to uncover.

That would have to wait however, as getting to the conference was priority one right now. As the salarian entered the medbay he found the asari sitting up on her cot mumbling to herself.

Kallic approached and looked her over carefully, studying her readouts on a display, "Captain called for a conference, you're invited, will undo the equipment, have to warn you against sudden movements though, sedatives might still be in system, affect coordination: be careful. Have to warn against talking to self too, make others question sanity."

Kallic only smirked at his last remark as he proceeded to detach her from the medical equipment, helping her from the cot. "Will get to meet the rest of the crew, you'll love our pilot."
__________
Naut'aun floated in from the cockpit of the ship, moving over to the two already in the general quarters.

"This one says hello Captain, Tom; we're pleased to be having a gathering of friends for once, but would really appreciate more warning next time, flying this ship is hard enough with it's design without being pulled from the controls on such short notice!" The Hanar complained - as far as complaining Hanar go, that is - his tone and demeanor were still quite polite. He tried fitting in by acting out normal ship behavior, but tended to lack the same...Oomph, but he tried and that's what counted.

"Was this one too harsh? It is sorry if it offended you two," Naut'aun apologized almost immediately, not realizing he lacked any real offending nature in the first place; though compared to other Hanar he was quite a 'hick', at least to other Hanar he would be considered quite hickish, to other species one would have to be around him enough to tell the difference.

(There was an announcement on that. Everything from the past week was irretrievably lost. You could just do what I did in A Glimmer of Hope: Sum it up and carry on.)

((Well, since all our efforts are lost and dead, I say we move forward and do a slight time skip to our group traveling into the Traverse. That way it will give our crew time to interact - i.e. Captain and Quirinius talking about stuff/recruitment, or Kallic interacting with Rogue, or continuing studies of the syringe, and Naut'aun deciding which colony to visit since he's the pilot and navigator - But will also shorten the time it'll take us to actually get their both figuratively and literally.))

((oh very well then  we'll do a slight time skip. We've already planned what we were doing anyway :) ))

Ulrich keyed in the galaxy map the coordinates to the Helix Nebula: their chosen destination. There an Alliance Research facility was situated on a human colony world labelled Osiris, within the Harding System.

Hopefully they wont be tailed by Cerberus Opperatives on their way, or to the most of their worries: already be waiting for them.

Ulrich walked into the cockpit where the Hanar floated amongst the ships controls. "I've keyed in the coordinates to the Helix Nebula. We ought to arive their within a few hours." he informed Nau'tuan, or "Ghost" as some of the crew members refered to him. ( ;) )

As everyone was dismissed, Tuhrop approached their Asari guest. "Quirinius, right?" he greeted. "May I simply call you Quiri? Its much easier..."

He crossed his arms. "Anyway, back to the point. Given under these circumstances of bringing you aboard my ship to patch you up, theres the question of what we do with you. As you are undoubtly aware, we are heading for Osiris, within the Helix Nebula. Do you have someplace to go?"

Rogue was impressed by the plan. To go to the Alliance for help was a smart move indeed. It was also impressed by the variety in species within the crew. There were humans, turians, salarians, krogan, a hanar pilot, a drell, and an asari passenger. A perfect opportunity to learn more about each species.

It was also curious as to what it had witnessed earlier. It recalled the way the asari stared at the salarian. It didn't look like a look of infatuation, more like a look of distrust. It was curious if was a particular trait of one or the other or of the races themselves. It would seem Rogue might get a chance to find out as it saw the salarian.

"Salarian, we have not met yet. I am Rogue," it said sticking its arm out.

"I've keyed in the coordinates to the Helix Nebula. We ought to arrive their within a few hours." Tom told Naut'aun, or 'Ghost' ( ) as the crew was prone to calling him.

His long tendrils glided seamlessly across the control panel of the ship - designed for armed and legged sapient beings, and not the long tentacles of a Hanar; but he had learned to integrate with the controls almost perfectly, on top of having a special hanar-made interface jury-rigged where the pilot's seat would normally be - currently he wasn't hooked up to the device and was floating freely amongst the controls.

"This One thanks you Tom, your assistance is most welcome. It was a bit of a hassle turning around mid-jump to return to the Sahrabarik System from going to the Farther System, but we encountered no hostility, which It counts as fortunate. It only hopes our journey into the Traverse is just as uneventful," Naut'aun hummed out in his wisping cryptic voice.
__________

Kallic had been waiting nearby as the Captain spoke to Quirinius, when he suddenly heard someone speak to him.

"Salarian, we have not met yet. I am Rogue," The Geth offered it's name and hand.

Kallic didn't even pause to think, he simply smiled and reached out in return, shaking the synthetic's offered appendage; he seemed to hold no reservations about the A.I.

"Call me Kallic," he responded.

Quirinius nodded crisply toward Captain Tuhrop. "Of course," she replied with a slight smile, "although, for obvious reasons, I prefer if you would pronounce it KEER-ee." She hoped that none of the others on board the ship would laugh at this little explanation, but the young asari had nothing to worry about on that particular point! With a barely-audible sigh of relief, she decided to reveal where her unusual moniker came from. Relaxing, she began:

"My--father as you might call him, although we asari have no real such term, was a krogan. His name was also Quirinius, and he was a lieutenant warlord with a...fondness for exotic dancers." The color of her smooth cheeks deepened to a slightly darker shade of blue. "My mother did not want me to follow the same path she did, especially in my Maiden stage. She wanted to instill strength and power in me, and so she named me after her partner. Not that I mind, of course, except most people I encounter expect to meet a male once they hear my name. Once they see my face, though..."

She laughed. "It's quite amusing to observe the confusion and shock in their eyes! Uh--to return to the matter at hand, Captain Tuhrop," she continued with a slight clearing of her throat, "I have no place to go except back to Omega. That would be...inadvisable. Once you have a large group of people try to kill you back on that world, it's almost impossible to erase the bounty on your head. I made an utter fool of the salarian organizer of the chess tournament, and if I return to Omega, he's sure to make me pay for it."

Quirinus folded her hands in her lap. "I don't want to spend the rest of my life running and hiding--or, at least the remainder of my Maiden years."

"Call me Kallic," The Salarian responded.

Rogue stored the name into its memory banks. It was odd, Kallic seemed to have no issue with the geth. The captain hadn't either, but it appeared Kallic was perfectly fine with Rogue being on board. Its head shifted a little, giving Rogue a look of curiosity.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Salarian:Kallic. I wished to know why that asari was staring at you back at the meeting. Also I noticed you seemed to have no issue with me...I am also curious about this," Rogue said.

Unlike an organic, Rogue was direct about what it wanted in a conversation. It wouldn't waste time with small talk, it went right to the issue at hand.
