Simply put, whats your favourite real life weapon? No disturbing confessions of using them. You never even have had to have held one to haev a favourite. Just something you'd like to be armed with incase you wake up and everyone else is "undead" etc.

Mine? P90 Sub.

It's like pure sex in gun form.

Don't really have much of a deep interest in modern weaponry or anything, but I like the Dragunov, because it's Soviet, it's a sniper rifle and it has the most kickass weapon name of all time:

And of course, the pride of every third world nation:

Fine choices indeed, the People's Dragunov, the prime weapon of the Soviet Sniper Corp, and the Kalashnikov, an amazing legend in itself...but my favorite goes back to the AK's German ancestor.....

http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq67/Fieldmarshalq/STG44.jpg)

....The Sturmgewehr 44!!

Yep, the Germans sure did know how to make an effective weapon, became a legend during WW2, still has a profound impact on the world of weapons.

^^ Good choice as well, the Nazis also had a way with developing kickass weaponry with equally kickass names, like Sturmgewehr. Sturmgewehr. Compare with Allied inventions: The Thompson rifle. Thompson? Seriously?

Bah! Modern weapons are so surgical - where's the romance?

From my own collection (none of these can actually fire, but given the chance I'd have the real things):

Though, for zombie killing, i'd go with a machine gun backed up by a cavalry sabre.

**** yeah, you take the machinegun, I impale zombies, horseback and with a lance. That's the most awesome zombie-killing duo I've ever seen. :D

Thanks Sabre! Indeed, the Nazis always had good gun names...even the meaning of Sturmgewehr is awesome....Storm Gun....that sure beats a Thompson:D

Somehow, I knew you'd pick those weapons, they are indeed classics, but for zombie killing, I'd take a shotgun, and a Samurai sword, aim for the head!:D

You know what you need, Astor? You need a Magnum...most powerful gun in the world:D

My favourite is the Smith & Wesson Model 626 - .357 Magnum round, 6" barrel, 'blued', with wooden grips. It's also the same one I use for target shooting! :D

https://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson/upload/images/firearms/150145_large.jpg)

It looks the same as this example, which is the famous Model 29 (.44 Magnum).

Or something more fanciful...

SA80 L85A2, though I prefer it without the scope.

The XM8, because it looks so much like some Halo-esque weapon of tomorrow.http://homepage.mac.com/topcover/blog/images/XM8FinalVersion.jpgWhat's) great about it is that it's so adaptable, much like the DM-17 :phttp://www.murdoconline.net/pics/xm8b.jpg)

And of course, there's the minigun, for the sake of being badass.http://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/5/56/Minigun_2.JPG/400px-Minigun_2.JPGSee) what I mean:

Fun!

I also like the H&K MP5 series, for its sheer versatility. Plus it looks nice - both the MP5K http://www.heckler-koch.de/media/Products/Submachine_guns/mp5_01.jpg)

and the MP5A3 http://www.heckler-koch.de/media/Products/Submachine_guns/mp5_a3_02.jpg)

A very nice choice for all game involving infiltration of any kind! Regrettably, I haven't had a chance to fire one...:(

Guitar. Pete Townshend used it.

Keep off his stage. :carms:

But really, the Japanese Kamas:

And for the record, I have a pair and know how to use 'em.

No one said it had to be a gun.

Kamas are sick. I use to take a Okinawan weapons class where they taught kamas. I never did get around to learning them though...

You know, that reminds me of my second favorite weapon....the SAMURAI DAISHO!!! A Katana and a shorter wakizashi blade which is a symbol of loyalty, to the point that if told to, the Samurai would commit suicide with that sword. Quite the awesomeness....I love Japanese weaponry and martial arts....:D

If we're talking melée as well, then my favourite is the Pata, a kickass sword gauntlet that Tanaji "Lion" Malusare had dual-weilded during the epic siege of Kondhana/Sinhagadh.

Also, the deceptive and cunningly avant-garde Urumi:

And of course, the beautiful Japanese katana, which I need not Google Image Search for. :D

Known as the macuahuitl in Nahuatl, it is the Mesoamerican equivalent of a sword, and more contemporarily, a cricket bat with obsidian blades on the side.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/Florentine_Codex_IX_Aztec_Warriors.jpg)

Form over function, my friend, form over function - the 1796 Heavy Cavalry Sabre wins over most other Napoleonic Swords (But then again, I do have a thing for Cavalry)...

It's my firm belief that British troops would look super-fly even if we went into battle wearing corsets and armed with chamber-pots. :D

Embellishing weapons is much more of a girly thing really - as the French at the time proved...

Not that i'd want to mess with a Grognard of Le Grande Armee...
