Though the first one came out in 2003, didn't pick it up till Xmas 2004 and still didn't start playing it till 5/2006. Got K2 shortly thereafter. What about the rest of you?
My uncle got my K1 for xbox. Then I bought K2 for Xbox. Then my friend gave my K2 for PC. Too bad I don't have K1 for PC also...
Got K2 first, about two years ago I think. K1 about a year ago. But I've played both for three years at least on my cousins xbox.
I got them both when they came out, K2 on the release date.
Got both on their respective release years. The released dates for the PC, mind you.
IIRC, I got KotOR somewhere in mid 2004, but I got to playing it somewhere in December, as my old graphic card couldn't render the textures, resulting in whitewashed textures everywhere, and ghostly characters. I did manage to make my way to Taris, though. I even got myself to street level.
I got KotOR 2 somewhere in mid 2005, that's for sure.
K1 about a year ago, and I just started playing about 2 months ago.
Don't own K2.
I believe I got K1 some time in 2004 -- I remember being at Best Buy for something else, seeing it, and picking it up for $20. TSL I think I got for my birthday in 2005 (I told my boyfriend if he gave me his copy he didn't have to buy me anything -- I can see why he wanted to get rid of it :p).
K1 almost a year ago and K2 two months later. I hated the first when I started because I was expecting something like jedi knight. I threw it away and didn't intend to play it again. Then I tried it again just to see if there was more to it. A month later, I got K2 and have been craving K3 ever since.
Oh god. I think I got K2 and K1 in 2005... but played K2 first.
After I'd completed them, I put them away for years, and only really started playing it again, in 2008, now.
:^:
what goes around comes around, ey.
i got them for the Xbox release dates, hehe. couldn't resist. once the PC versions came out i sold the xbox copies and got the PC versions so i could use/make mods.
Both for xbox.. K1 only a few months before K2 was released. K2 about a month after it was released. Had to be 2004-2005?
Well, I used to be an avid Nintendo fan up until I moved down to North Carolina in March of '04. After seeing my step-brother play through a lot of Fable and, overall, just realizing the Gamecube uh...sucked for the most part, I bought my own Xbox. In late October or early November I saw him playing KotOR on the Endar Spire as apparently one of his friends let him borrow it. I can't really remember, but I guess I played it myself on some of Taris and maybe Dantooine a while, loved it, and then bought my own platinum hits copy. I just hooked up my xbox to see the date on my first playthrough and it was November 28. So, I never even heard of KotOR for over a year and a half and I got it sometime in early-mid November '04.
I don't remember when exactly I got TSL. I know it was in '05, relatively close to to the release date. I bought the guide with it, too. I probably should have checked the date while I had my Xbox connected eh? Ah well, I know my last, and second, playthrough was in '06. Since then, whenever KotOR creeps into my mind, it's the the first KotOR. I don't remember too much about TSL. Once Team Gizka finishes though, I'll be buying it for pc, for sure.
I've always envied pc owners of games like KotOR because of one thing: mods. I don't even want to play 360 Oblivion anymore after seeing the kinds of mods it has on pc. Lately, I had been looking up mods for KotOR as I was getting interested in it again. After seeing how much better the game could be with all the mods, I bid on a brand new pc version on eBay and won. I'm currently playing it with lots of mods installed.
Normally I wait wait for the games (PC) to be under $30. However I didn't with the KotOR series, NWN series and Ghost Recon. I probably won't for Dragon Age.

K1: Feb '04
K2: Release day.
_EW_
I got it in 2004 when I was at college. My friend insisted I get it since I was a gigantic Star Wars fan, saying that the story was better than that of both movie prequels (there were only two at the time). So we went to the mall one evening and were inside EB, and he found the game and kept bugging me to buy it, which I finally did. And boy was I glad I did!
I bought the second game very late in 2005 as I was waiting for the price to drop. Star Wars games were expensive as hell during the summer due to a raise in popularity generated by the premier of Revenge of the Sith.
bought k2 on release and i don't own k1.... *runs*
Seriously i tried to buy it but i can't find it in ANY stores anymore.... meh
It's included in Best of PC, which only costs about $10 more than K1 on its own, I believe. But you already have the better of the two games. :xp:
Got Kotor I on the release date, and same thing with Kotor II..
Bought TSL in 2006. Got K1 a couple of months later. Actually played them three or four months later - had to upgrade my PC!

Same here. I brought it home and tried to play it only to find that I didn't have enough RAM. I had an integrated graphics card that shared the RAM; so I had 224 MB of RAM instead of the 256 MB it required. Man, that annoyed me so much!
Got KotOR in Decmeber '03, if I recall (thinking the gameplay was Jedi Outcast-style :p), and TSL at its release, which must've been somewhere in February '05 for the PC.
I got K1 around November 2004 and K2 around January 2005
Hmm, Let see here,It was after my third year in College I got K1 for the Xbox on it's release date, And I also got K2 for the Xbox on the release date. I didn't buy them for the PC until last year when grad school ended.
Well I got kotor 1 last saturday and I'm ordering kotor 2 today :) for xbox
Three months ago. I got K1 with 'The Best of PC', and I went ahead and ordered TSL at the same time. Been playing them almost constantly ever since. :)
PS: JCarter426, you're right about the price of 'The Best of PC'. Much better buy than just getting K1 by itself.
Got K1 in January for my birthday because I had a good feeling about it (Nothing special - I get "good feelings" about a lot of games and most of them are rubbish or I play them obsessively for 2 days then never touch them again). I loved it so much I picked up K2 while I was still finishing it so I wouldn't have to wait to play it.
I was a bit jarred by K2 at first, probably because I tried playing as a male first, so I made a female then got stuck by the Jek Jek Tarr bug. So I played K1 some more before I went back to actually finish it.
KOTOR 1 one day after the release date
KOTOR 2 release date
i didn't get to play them for a month cause of my evil graphics card
I bought Knights of the Old Republic with The Best of PC a few months ago. I bought The Sith Lords about four to five months ago.
Both of them on Xbox in 2005, and then 2006 and 2008 for TSL and K1 on pc respectively.
I got mine about 2 years ago.
K2 last year and K1 a few months after it. I really enjoyed K2 and decided to get K1 after defeating Traya
I got it for Xbox March of '05....yeah I entered late, but had last-gen console mentality(PSone,N64) even with a Gamecube.
Bro in law, being the Star Wars junkie he is, picked it up opening day.
Bought them the years they came out, so that means:
KotOR I: 2003
KotOR II: 2004
Both for Xbox, thank God
Question for PC owners, though: Do the PC versions of K1 & K2 require a key code to install?
Question for PC owners, though: Do the PC versions of K1 & K2 require a key code to install?
No, there's no need to insert a serial during the installing process. May I ask why the question, though?
k1 - winter of '04. Was already in the bargain bin and I needed some cheap pc entertainment.
k2 - shortly after release. Wish I stayed home that day.

Because it just seems like one of those games where you would need a key code
