Crap...

I got to the Telos Academy level and the Handmaidens all look like Kreia for some reason or another. I think it has to do with the Kreia Assorted Robes Mod since all the models of Kreia are wearing a redish version of her original robe. PLEASE HELP! This is really messed up. Is this because of the appearance.2da file being replaced? I really have no clue...

That's because you have another mod (mods) installed which alter handmaiden appearance. For better support tell us what mods are installed.

Figures... :snear: Well I have tons of mods installed but only a few I would geuss as to being responsible for changing handmaiden's appearance. The main culprit I think is Stoffe's excellent Handmaiden (Brianna) reskin. I also installed mods that change a lot of things such as:

- The Ultimate Saber Mod
- Lightsaber Creation Console
- Hak pad mod (plus booster pack)

I will try to name the rest of the mods that I have installed (besides Kreia's Assorted Robes which I already mentioned):

- New Bastila Ages
- New Carth Ages
- Carth Unsightly Armor Fix
- Archer's Bandon and Sith Armor robes
- Revan Robes by Redhawke
- Visas Marr Robe
- T7 Nowhere's Mandalorian Armor fix and Alien fix.
- Bao Dur's Charged Armor
- HK-50 reskin
- Ebon Hawk Cargo Mod
- Bank of Corucant mod
- Force Crush fix
- New saber colors for Revan vision, Kriea vision and final battle Kreia.
- Less Anorexic looking Handmaiden model by cjt0202
- Less Anorexic Jedi Exile Dancer model by cjt0202
- Svosh's Collar Robe fix
- Shem's Sion Reskin
- Svosh's Exile Item Pack
- Trayus Academy Robe Fix

That's the most of them. Quite the list no? Still only a few of them would be potential suspects. I hope someone can find the cause soon because Im not quite sure and it is an annoying glitch.

Have you installed any other mods after installing the Handmaiden Appearance mod that include an appearance.2da file? If you have chances are you have overwritten the changes applied by the Handmaiden Appearance mod with the 2DA file from another mod, which might cause the problem you describe (since the scripts and templates point to an appearance type for the Handmaiden Sisters that's now placed there by another mod).

Well the Kreia Assorted Robes mod contained a appearance.2da. Should I reinstall the Handmaiden mod over it or would that not work? I should make it clear that Brianna looks like she should with your new model but the other handmaidens look like Kreia.

EDIT: I managed to fix this by uninstalling both the Handmaiden mod and the Kreia's Assorted Robe Mod. It was indeed the appearance.2da file being overwritten. I had install Kreia's Assorted Robe mod and any other mod involving an appearance.2da first and then install the Handmaiden mod. I wished all modders made their mods simply modify the existing appearance.2da file rather than a complete overwrite. Still I can't complain... Thanks for the help stoffe! :)

We modders 'wished' that people who complained about things like this first take a little time and looked into why they are so before 'wishing' or 'complaining' about things being the way they are.

That is the way things are as we modders have to use some files that other mods will also use... that is the nature of the beast. We do not have 'official' support for modding KotOR or TSL so we have to make due with what we have. Shared files in the override between mods is one such issue.

Only recently has something come up that can help to install mods. Before that there were none, simple as that. Another sad fact is that many of the older mods won't ever use that newer program (as the mod makers have moved on) so you end-users will still be faced with that ever irritating choice, choose between mods or 'roll up your sleeves' dive-in and learn to merge mod files. ;)

I didn't mean no disrespect my Lord... :toilet1: As I said "I can't complain" considering all the cool mods out there people like you and stoffe create that make the game that much more enjoyable. I apologize for any unintended insult on my part. However, mod conflicts are a pain since you may have to sacrifice using one for the use of the other. Speaking of which...

I downloaded Cate Kroft's female exile appearance named Maia (http://d9studios.net/mods/k2_maia.html). However it clashes with stoffe's Twi'lek Exile (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=149516). I think it has to do with the Cate's mod (which I installed after stoffe's Twi'lek Exile) overwriting the slot's for appearance.2da and other files used by the Twi'lek Exile mod. Any way around this?

Any way around this?Yeah, overriding a .2da file is never a smart thing unless there is something in the readme that states that the mod's .2da file is compatible with it. In this case, the added line in the appearance.2da file to make Stoffe's female Twi'lek show up in the game has been erased. Of course Stoffe uses the TSL Patcher, so what you could do is re-install her mod and it will re-install the line needed in the appearance.2da file you need and Cate's Maia mod should be there too.

I'm not trying to degrade anybody by any means, just to second what Redhawke said. I found it is well worth it to download KOTOR tool and poke around in some of the files. I didn't know the first thing about modding or even about most-things-computer-related when I first stumbled upon this website.
Kotor Tool is pretty easy to use for most basic operations --especially for merging 2da files -- really -- 2das are like a spreadsheet (I was surprised to find that out). Merging 2das will open up many more mods for you to experience. Plus have you ever wanted to create your own custom lightsaber, blaster, armor, etc. with its own stats? You can, and you don't have to be a computer whiz -- I'm not. :)

Plus there's a large community of good help here (and a large archive of posts to help, too).

You convinced, yet? ;)

Sorry if I was a nag, just trying to bring more future-modders into the fold :)

Maybe that's why they call 2d array. :)
Mattz, welcome to dark world of wizards and modders.
I'm sure it will be not too long time until we will see a mod released by you. :D
Good luck!

Anyway just wanted to say my last issue was dealt with. Now there is peace in the galaxy... and by galaxy I mean the one in my CD drive. :giggle1:
