OK, I've had the X-Wing Colector's Edition since I was 5 or 6. I used to paly it all the time, however, I never fully beat it because of computor upgrades, and I got X-Wing Alliance. Recently, I was reading through the guide book I have for X-Wing and now, I really want to play it. I was wondering what I would need to play X-Wing on XP.
Most likely, a DOS emulator. DOSBox (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dosbox) and VDMSound (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound) are the best possibilities, with VDMSound seeming to work well with X-Wing (and TIE Fighter, I might add). You might want to check out this thread on TheForce.net (

any tips about joysticks?
Not sure if USB sticks will work with your older games, but you can ask in that thread on TFN. You might want to know that the X-Wing Collector's Series is a version of X-Wing and TIE Fighter tuned for Windows (though a compatibility fix for XP available on LucasFiles (
http://www.lucasfiles.com/index.php?s=&action=file&id=653) is needed to use your 3D hardware in those games) and will support any game controller Windows does. You should be able to find a copy on Ebay.
