Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the lulz and chortles of the everyday-ish routine of browsing RD- the faith that there will be comedy, the knowledge that there will be drama. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's banning or the end of some awful, unfunny thread, a celebration of the arrival of a member with an IQ above 80, I thought we could mark this March the 24th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking time out of out daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are those of course who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being hammered into keyboards, and men with b& hammers will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the Moderator Control Panel may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this forum, isn't there? Poor troll attempts, unfunny posters, the posting of horrid webcomics, the departure of many members. And where once you had the ability to make me grin, to post and IM in such a way as to make me lol, you now have AIDS and douchebag posters coercing your conformity to their unfunny ways and soliciting your complicity in the downfall of this forum. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again, truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know why you posted non-lulzworthy material. Boredom, less drama, greater resistance to trolls. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your posting and rob you of all lolz. Laziness got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now commonplace posting style, 13 year-old LJ drama queen. It promised you cheap laughs, it promised you a higher post count, and all it demanded in return was your drama-filled, noteworthy schtick. Thursday night I saught an end to that lack of lulz. Last night I went to bed at 9:30 PM EST, to remind myself of an evening activity I used to take pleasure in. More than 4 months ago a great group of posters wished to embed the spirit of RD forever in our memory. Their hope hope was to remind the forum that lulz, drama, trolling, and internet fights are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this forum remain unknown to you than I suggest you allow the 24th of March to pass unmarked. But, if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you seek what I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, logged on to LF, and together we shall give them a 24th of March that shall never, ever be forgot.
