So anyway, there's a new ad floating around at LF that my Norton catches as an internet worm. It's blocked, but I have gotten this warning several times today.
EXACT THING THAT HAPPENED:
A thing on the sidebar loads. A popup says "This document contains no data". Norton pops up saying that it blocked an intrusion.
What's up wit dat, du?
What ad is it? I don't have Norten, broken down on us too many times. I've got AVG Free.
Oh, advertisers. I would buy your product, had it not broken my computer! Now I'm filing a lawsuit. Look what you made me do.
I'm not sure. Once the ad loads (after it's all "document contains no data" and Norton blocks it), there's a white bar with weird strings of code in it.
Pics or it didn't happen.
Okay...I've gotten a few times an ad that says 'This page cannot be displayed' but it never loads.
The matrix code? Dood, dont destroy my sense of reality!!! Wait...nevermind. Can you tell what kind of code it is? Is it regular HTML? Java or I dunno, I've seens some C+ floating around on ads before.
HTML-ish code.
Though, I haven't seen the ad yet today. *hmmm*
Sure your not just being an Attention (Lady of the
evening)(Pollitically Corrected)?
*Fixed
...
Was there supposed to be a question mark in there? :D
*vocabulor and the grammar nazis'd!*
It's very unlikely that it's an actual virus/worm as LucasForums only serves ads from a few reputable servers, two of which are Google and UGO. Although the UGO ads are sometimes a bit lame and we strive to remove them (eg: the mosquito buzzing one), malicious code is a whole other ballpark.
Some anti-virus software blocks certain ads because they can interfere with your experience, such as the aforementioned mosquito ad which produces a loud buzzing sound as soon as you load the page. It could be that or a similar ad which was blocked to prevent you having to go through that annoyance. :(
Maybe for YOU it is!
Avant is a shell, and the IE rendering engine is in it, so it sucks.
Avant is an awesome, and it's not Furry Firefox, so it rules.
Firefox is gr8, m8.

That's like somthing my grandma would type if I told her about internet talk.

It's so-so. I used to use it until Firefox came out. You should really use Opera if you want a low memory-usage browser though.
