(I'm the definition of a noob!) I want to apply a texture to a model in gmax, I understand that you have to uvw map the model - but I want to apply a texture. for instance I extracted and converted with mdlops > pmhc01.mdl and pmhc01.mdx into gmax and I want to apply PMHC01.tga on the model in gmax. How do I do this ?

Ok, I think I applied the texture - I put the PMHC01.tga in the folder with pmhc01.mdl and pmhc01.mdx and opened up the model in gmax > my normally gray model have the texture applied to it, i wanted to try the uvw mapping but when i clicked on the modify list tab, it was blank, everything was blank - what am i suppose to do ?

First, you need to select that part of model, which you want to remap. After that, you will be able to add modifiers in the "modify" tab.
