Where do new maps show up in game?

I am a little confused. I download new maps from Lucasfiles and extract them to my gamedata/base folder, but how to I play them. I have tried going to mulitplayer and single player but none of the maps show up anywhere to play in?

Are they only in mulitplayer mode, even still they don't show up in the map selection screen. I have downloaded the patch from lucasarts.com
