When I try to play EaW, I get about halfway into the game when a blue screen pops up saying that windows has incountered a problem and is being shutdown before any damage is done, and the comp restarts ?

Update your drivers. Its that simple. Your graphic card drivers and also your direct x9c (on the game cd)
