As an old adage says, give back to Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser.

I heard alot of ppl around here talking about EAW as totaly new concept which uses the real time galaxy map with two separate phases (especialy some members of dev team and LA team but that's the marketing). The space phase and the ground phase.

Well I'm sorry for you but there is nothing revultionary in EAW. All this concept was created long time ago but not in a galaxy far far away. Matter of fact it was so close to us that is almost insane.

The concept or real time strategy on galaxy level was made first byDigital Reality (http://www.digitalreality.hu/index.php?fomenuid=3&almenuid=14&cikk=68)the) hungarian dev team.

They released two games based on this concept. The Imperium Galactica 1 and 2.

The imperium galactica 1 was running under DOS exclusevly while 2 was running under Windows 98 and XP.

Here is the review of the Imperium Galactica 2

The Imperium Galactica 2 (http://www.avault.com/reviews/review_temp.asp?game=igal2)

It had some good points and some bad points just like any product but I strongly invite you to read the review.

To make long things short here are some pics from the game :

Since it has really little to do with E@W, this thread has been moved to the right section.

I'm actually interested in trying IG2. I've never gotten around to looking into it. Is there a demo?

Hooray for doing your own searching! \o/

There is. (http://www.gamespot.com/pages/gamespace/download.php?pid=197617&sid=2536312&mode=latest)

That first line is a little more than some old adage. It's from the Bible and I was just wondering how it applies to this situation. Anyhow, I think that EAW will be just fine. Orao, you seem to be worrying accross many threads now, how about we just wait and see how it is when it comes out? You can just wait until someone you know gets it, and then you can make the final judgement.

Hehe, I'll buy the game even if the game doesn't match my gameplay style entirely. However I made this thread because on many interviews I can hear/read Petro and LA guys telling us that the concept is just something new that was never done before.

I only wanted to reestablish some truth that's all.

Well, they ment about the Star Wars franchise, which isn't quite true either. You do have Rebellion, which does have land units, but you're not able to battle like you do in space.

Indeed the concept has been around a long time.

It's not new to the SW franchises with Rebellion, but also Rebellion was a copycat game of a sorts anyways off of Orion and didn't do as well. It got outslugged the year it was released and yet because it's SW and because of the fact that LA hadn't released any decent RTSs yet, it's still hanging around as a cult favorite.

Yet honestly, in a sense it is new and revolutionary. You see it isn't nearly as strategy heavy as some of the galactic sims you find. It's got a more arcade like feel. Combining the feel of Armada, C&C, and the Galactic Sims all in one game hasn't been done before. All too often Galactic RTSs of this scope struggle in the graphics department because there is just so much to include, well here's Petro's offering with ship shape graphics and the healthy dosage of Galactic Simulation. The fact that they've found a way to mesh all of that area into one fluid game is revolutionary in and of itself.

And the most important way this game is revolutionary...Petro managed to convince LA that fans WANT capital ships in their SW games!!! (sry...kind of my own personal revolution)
