Ive Just been to a shop, that sells computers and ive seen a very nice computer, but its got a graphic card in that im not so sure of.....

it is the 256MB RADEON X550 PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT made by POWERCOLOUR. Now as far as i can see (but i could be wrong) it is on par with the 128mb Geforce 6600GT 8xAGP

But i have never used or know much about RADEON cards.

On a side note im manily going to be using this computer for Games.

The address below is where is the computer ive seen.

I just checked the ATI site and that's a gaming chip.

Found here:
http://www.ati.com/products/gamer.html)

That seems like a very good card.

Only question I have is about this:
Operating-System - Windows XP Media Centre Edition
I'm not sure whether that's much different from the home edition, shouldn't be a problem though, have fun :)

Oh btw if you're gonna buy that, get the Norton Antivirus half price thing too, it's worth it :)

It sounds like a good card to me as well. I have an older Radeon that is 128 MB and it plays EaW fine, so that should play it wonderfully.

I have a 500M laptop card and that plays EaW fine. The X550 should be great as it's designed to provide the best gaming experience. Wow I should be a salesman lol!

Thank you to everyone for giving there advice.
I couldn't see anything in the forum rules to ask this, but if i missed something i do aplogise. For what ppl said i can play EAW with no proplem with this Radeon Card, but what about other games? like Star Wars Republic Commando, FarCry, The movies, Star wars battlefount 1 + 2 and lastly GTA:SA

Far Cry is the most graphically demanding game out of those you put (not sure about the movies, never heard of it?). It came out before the X550 was made so it should run it handsomely. It's a pretty solid card that should have no problem with any of today's games.

Why are you so worried about an ATi card? It will run most everything just like a Nvidia one... its just a different brand.

the 6600GT is 1000 times better than the x500, however the x500 will run the game but not as well as the 6600GT would.

I would say that the X5500 is roughly equivalent to an Nvidia 6200. I have a 6600GT which runs the game pretty well at 1024x768 with all the detail maxxed. I would like to run it smoothly at 1600x1200 but $400 for a new 7800GT is a little hard to accept.
Tom's Hardware has a usefull web page for comparing the performance of various video cards. Here's the url...
