i have found that enemy creatures won't attack your party members if the PC is in another room watching live camera feed, is that true or i'm just doing something wrong?

That would be true. The creature AI of NPCs is blocked out while you are in a dialog (likely to prevent you from being killed while being helplessly "locked inside" a conversation unable to fight back), and the computer terminals are dialogs. Thus creatures normally won't fight if you watch them through a security camera.
