Hey again, I was having some trouble with custom lightsaber crystals and was wondering if anyone had played around with them? Here's the deal;

I started on my merry way by opening "g_w_sbrcrstl01.uti" (which is the Rubat crystal), changing the tag and resref to "g_w_sbrcrstl24.uti", changing the item name and description, adding it to my "upgrade.2da" file, adding some effects for it to the 'properties' field for each saber, and saving it as "g_w_sbrcrstl24.uti" in my Override folder. When I fired up the game and put my spanking new crystal in a saber, hit 'assemble' and then reopened it, the new crystal was replaced by a Rubat. When I installed a Rubat and hit 'assemble', the OTHER slot in my saber was filled by my NEW crystal. I figured, "Well thats a pain in the ass, why don't I try something else?" So I deleted everything and started over with "g_w_sbrcrstl16.uti" (the green crystal), hoping that a different kind of upgrade would not be buggy. I did the same things, and opened the game. This time when I hit 'assemble' and reopened the saber, my custom crystal was replaced by a Damind crystal of all things.

I am completely clueless here. Can anyone help?

The properties of the crystal are stored in the saber .uti, not the crystal .uti. Look at the properties for every crystal...they're all blank. Now look at the properties for each lightsaber...properties galore along with corresponding crystals. If you want a new crystal that has new properties, then you'll need to edit all the sabers.

You can check out my LS/DS Saber mod (found here (http://www.freewebs.com/achilles01/lightsabers.htm)) for starters.

I'm sorry, my post must have been a little muddled. I did modify the lightsabers .uti files and save them in Override.

I have looked at your lightsaber mod, Achilles, and when I installed it and updated the normal sabers to accept the new crystals, the Kirrus and Rubat got messed up instead of my new crystal and the Rubat. Most confusing.

Darth_Robinson,

Please read the Holowan Labs Forum Rules & Etiquette Thread (http://64.20.36.211/showthread.php?t=127725)... Rule #7 states "No Bumping" and this is exactly what you have done.

If anyone has anything to add they will...

But since you are asking, just a guess on my part mind you, but your problem is likely you have the wrong upgrade type number in your saber uti files for them to change crystal types like that. It should match the number you give it in upgrade.2da, but I'm not sure.

Ok! I just noticed that for Achilles' crystals (which I added to each lightsaber's .uti to function in all sabers), the 'upgrade.2da' file has a '****' instead of 'kirrus_crystal'. I modified my own to say Kirrus. After that, when I upgraded a saber with a Rubat, it also adopted a Kirrus's properties. When I hit 'assemble', the game automatically added a Kirrus. For my own crystal, it did the same thing except with a Damind.

So it looks like the only crystals that are causing me problems are the ones that I played with in 'upgrade.2da'. Does that give anyone some clue?
