With or without the patch x-wing don't start.
When i press from the launcer "play x-wing alliance" the game begin to load and after 2 sec it close the starter and return to desktop without messages..
No problems on my PC, tryied on other friends PC same problem.
With and without the patch.
(i have a geforce 2 mx)
Try reinstalling the game?

Yea, it's probably the cd. Take game back to the store where you bought it and claim it as faulty cd's. The store should let you have a new copy of the game for free, since the problem is with the software.
