I am unable play over the net. I am able to join the game before it starts. However, when the host launches the game, XWA starts, but I am in the concourse as if I started the game on my own. I never receive any multiplayer choices, like type of ship, team etc. I have tried joining a game using the IP address of the host, to no avail. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and the 2.02 patch, but it doesn't make a difference. I have no trouble playing Unreal Tourney online, so I'm not sure it's my ISP (Earthlink, using cable modem). Any suggestions?
It could be a number of things. Firstly, are you using a firewall prog? Tell me and we'll go from there...You'll most likely have to turn it off if you want to play on the Zone (unless you go to MS tech help and you config your firewall to leave certain ports open). And keep in mind that turning it off may also mean CTRL-ATL-DEL and go for 'end task' b/c sometimes, with a prog such as BlackIce Defender, it's STILL in memory even after you click 'exit' on its icon in the system tray.
Hope this helps! : )
I have the same problem. It just started happening recently. I contacted Lucasarts and they gave me this reply:
"At this time, you will have to enter the IP address of the HOST manually when playing on the Zone. The Zone has changed the way it works with our games, therefore, it's not automatically launching the game because it
doesn't have the IP address and possibly other changes may be involved as well. We are looking into this and hope to have it resolved soon."
We'll just have to use IP numbers until things are fixed.
