why are the editing forums locked?? I cant seem to find any threads about it, is it to do with the server too?

They're locked, but still accessible... it's just to ensure that the tutorials posts "stay" as tutorial posts rather than topic shifting...
Most of the tutorial threads have links to their origination in the case you have questions relating to the subject :)
