OK, my son bought this game with his birthday money. While trying to install it , it gets to "psychonauts\workresource\pclevelpackfiles\bba2.ppf" and freezes up solid- cursor, other programs, everything -requiring a reboot. Ive tried it with the firewall, antivirus and anti spyware all shut down, even exchanged it for a new copy at the store, same problem. I sent an email to tech support, they asked for a dx listing of my computer specs which I sent- Ive heard nothing back in two days now. Can anyone help? Im way over every system requirement so that shouldnt be an issue. Any clues? Thanks!

Do you have enough disk space free? It requires nearly 4gb of space.

If thats not it and you have lots of space free, you could try copying all the files off the cd's onto a folder on your hard drive and then installing from there. I dont know if that'd work, but its worth a shot.

My computer blue screened because of silly problems I have with my hardware, and afterwards it would freeze up at a certain spot on one of the disks. I had to completely delete the folder that it was installing to in order to get it to work...so if the folder is still hanging around that you were installing to, and especially if there is left over stuff in the folder, deleting it may help.

Unrelated, I think I fixed the bsod problem I had by reinstalling my motherboard and sound drivers.

Making a larger pagefile, and making it static instead of dynamic might help too.

If you have a second cd/dvdrom drive installing with that one may also help.

If copying the files doesn't work you can also write the cd images to hard drive, mount them and then do it that way. You might have to use cd reading software that can handle the copyright protection, if it has any.

If you haven't deleted the directory, try that first.
