When you open GMAX does it prompt you that you need to register it before you proceed?

If so as I recall it will provide you with a couple of options for
registering it. If you read through everything there you should
have it figured out in no time.

If not can you go right into GMAX and use it?

If so you may have already registered it without knowing it.

A good way to know is this, Is the computer GMAX is installed on the smae one you get online with. If yes do you access the internet via a high speed connection. Also if yes I believe there was a quick register link as part of the the prompt that you need to register. If you clicked this then you are probably already registered.

I hope this helps.

Proofread, to avoid sounding hostile, as I'm trying to be helpful here Moderators.

Didn't you have a thread exactly like this (http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143674) a few days ago? Didn't the moderators lock that one down too? If so, this would be spam.

Although this thread is not directly mod-releated (although much closer than the WinRAR thread IMO), I do not believe it is spam. The other thread you're referring to was closed by request.

Hopefully someone familiar with GMAX will help sort out the problem of "where to put in the registration code" as Darkkender attempted to do.

For the record, I don't want to make this forum a 3rd party application support group. That said, I still see some merit in this thread because GMAX is an important tool in modding KotOR, and this thread may help someone else in the future.

Alright we are on the page to DL gmax http://www.turbosquid.com/Login/NewMemberLogin.cfm?blCreateAcct=TRUE&stgRU=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Eturbosquid%2Ecom%2FDownlo) ad%2FIndex%2Ecfm

CREATE NEW MEMBER ACCOUNT:
give a valid email addy and all the other stuff.. name, ect…..fill the info out and fallow the link to DL it ..

Go directly to that valid email addy you provided.. Then copy [ ctrl + c ] later paste [ ctrl + v ] the long string of letters and numbers that says Registration Code right next to it.
Ok so install gmax . now the first time it’s launched you get a pop up box that says please insert the soft wear Id or Key here

So paste [ ctrl + v ] and hit ok ..

the next pop up will ask what driver to use in the 3d environment OpenGL is what I use. Direct 3d often has adverse effects in gmax and for simple model creating with out all the flash that gmax is striped of it’s not worth using Direct 3D.

That’s it, done.

Now if for any reason .. Registration Code did not work , Keep the app open with the Registration Code box open. it has happened to me before.
Go to this page http://www.turbosquid.com/Support/Index.cfm) only this time you LOGIN: provide your name and a password that will be in your email from them as well. They will provide you with a new Registration Code. Once logged in to their site When you click the gmax Registration Code: link.

Copy and paste that in to the gmax Registration Code box

After it launches the first time close it now install the correct nwmax
For gmax:- http://nwmax.dladventures.com/downl...x-v0_7setup.exe)
At this point to run gmax to use for kotor modeling. You have to hit the Green and black icon the one that says Nwmax never the YMCA looking one ;)
And again that’s it.

By default it installs a desktop icon in Windows, it's the one that looks like a sign on a men's bathroom door.

Check where you installed gmax, in that directory there will be gmax.exe <-- thats the file you want to run. Now if you have NWMax installed and you want to work with kotor, you will want to start nwmax.exe in the same gmax directory (if you do not remeber where you installed it, just do a search on gmax.exe and you'll find it).
Have fun, its a good tool, albeit a bit confusing for the first time you use it ;)

Also note that there is an NWNMax should show up on your desktop if it doesnt then either you should reinstall it or make sure you have set it up correctly.

BTW: DarthSmallz, I need you to stop pming me, when I said you could pm me a quesition i meant about gmax not "Why arent you signed on" or "Can you teach me Gmax" In one day I have gotten 7 pms from you containing those parameters, please either pm the question you have or dont at all. And I will be on instant messanger when i can get my computer fixed. Meanwhile, get some tutorials and get used to the interface, you arent going to be able to make fantastic stuff off the bat, took me a while before i could do anything big like the vader helmet and the Korderon Trooper helmet.
