Honestly, I think it sucks. There are just two colours and with them the top art looks too glaring. I respect the darkness thing, but as far the website colour schemes are concerned, the Empire's War sucks.

When you see the new website, the colour scheme matches up with the style of the new looking website - which is launching soon.

These actual colours have been taken from images @ starwars.com and until we see the actual branding for the new RTS makes it a little difficult to plan ahead.

The colour scheme is supposed to be aggressive - hence the red because the whole theme of the new RTS will be just that. The Empire putting their foot down around the galaxy.

If I have the time, I might offer a rebel and imperial skin at a later date

Well, it's a little better now, but still too much red.

If I can suggest a theme, maybe one like I put on my forum?

Not advertising, btw, just thought that forum layout would work well for these forums. :)

Some people need to realise that not every monitor displays the exact image the same way and that it's impossible to do so. I have my monitor set at a specific level so that images are viewed at their optimum level but my monitor and someone elses monitor with the same type of settings would still show the same image with slightly different results. I am able to read the text in this forum but the thing is that you shouldn't force a user to keep changing their settings just to suit the site.

;) It's a design thing.

At home, this layout you see here, is ok enough for me, brightness isn't all too bad.

But right now, here at work, the red is alot darker than I experience at home. That might have something to do that the office here is alot more lit then at home (practically dark room there :D ).

I like the white text on black background better though.

;) It's a design thing. while that is true, there shouldn't be any other reason that his colouration would be that far off from original brightness. I have my monitor rather dark, but it's not that dark to where I have to highlight, yes I know, "not all monitors are the same" but the differences should not be that drastic.

You'd be surprised Sithy. People who do keep their monitors at the optimum level will see a similar image but not everyone knows how to keep their monitor at an optimum setting or prefers the settings they have made themselves. The point is when designing anything you have to try to take into account all of these factors.

True, but if you make it too bright for it to appear normal for those with it set really low, you'll blind the crap out of others.

so don't change the text to #FFFFFF, instead use #CCCCCC, it'll be easy to see and won't look grayish since everything around it is so dark. The point is Sithy. The damn text is too dark and I know you're arguing just for the sake of arguing.

No I'm not, I agree it's too dark, but it's not too dark where you should have to highlight to read. If it is, you should check your monitors brightness levels.

My monitor brightness is fine, if I had it any brighter I'd blind myself with whitness, you're not listening to the fact that not all monitors will display the same thing the exact same way.

I am, but it seriously shouldn't be that dark to where you HAVE to highlight to read. Meaning the ONLY way you can read is by highlighting, naturally you can pick up most of the words.

But I agree the text is way to dark to be very practical. But I hardly find it possible that one must be forced to highlight in order to read with brightness set at optimum levels.

I just find it hard to believe someone could have optimum levels of brightness while being forced to highlight in order to read a post.

I agree it's too dark for practical reasons. But it's not too dark where one is forced to highlight in order to read. You're trying to smoosh my statements into one package.

I didn't mention anything about having the monitor at optimum levels yet still having to highlight, I said some people do have it at optimum levels and others don't for various reasons and that you can't expect everyone to have them at the perfect levels.

As you can see Sithy, people do have the right to complain since they're the end user and the people DMUK who is in charge of this place have heard the people and has done what he can to please them and everyone is happy so :xp: to you.
