I've seen some really great looking mods with new clothing and armor models lately, but I'm wondering if there is a tutorial somewhere that explains how to get new meshes moving properly in game.

Imported meshes have a bunch of dummy and helper objects so its really confusing to figure out what my mesh should be linked to. Especially concering robes, torso peices etc.

Can someone help me out?

As of yet there are no tutorials for this kinda thing the first person to seem to be having some luck with this is Seprithro who is still learning it as he goes. Up untill a month and half ago there hadn't been anything of the new model type nature so most of the modders here are still infants in the sense of trying to figure out how to get the new feature options that have been opened up to them to work. I myself have realized that working with models is more than learning to speak a new language it is like trying to speak read and write 2 languages perfectly in 10 minutes to me. Another words thats my limitation that and trying to texture.

Since your probably just as fresh to this field of modeling as some of our other modders I highly encourage you to try your hand at it and not be afraid to mess it up.

Hello,

We can't do new bodies right now. We can only modify existing body models.

Body models use skin mesh which requires some extra calculations for how the vertices bend and flex. Unfortunately gmax/nwmax does not export this information and I don't know how to calculate it.

So, the only option right now is to find a model that is close to what you want then modify it

The option posed curently is to trick the game inserting new body meshes. As Darkender stated about what Seprithro is doing and what i was able to do with the Jedi robes and Boba Fett in Enter Jabba's Palace side quest. If you try this particular model you will see that the JetPack is actually an entire new mesh added to a standard model. The armor itself is based in an existing model but was made as a unique model.

The trick me, bneezy and [STGN]Locutus have been using is nicknamed Box Man process. I promissed a while ago to make a tutorial about it after i have released the Boba fett armor. Gimme sometime and i will do it.;)
