Poschki posted these pictures on a Finnish game forum. He has Radeon 9600 card which has a nice extra feature: you can play games in black and white. It really adds to the film noir feeling in GF.

I don't have this feature myself, but it would be nice to hear your comments if you do.

Looks good, but this just reminds me how bad my video card is :p
I got quite used to the color in the game, so it would be kind of strange to play it like that.

Wow, they look nice. Does anyone know how to enable this?

This reminds me of Tony Tough and the Night of the Roasted Moths, which has an option to play the game in sepia mode (screenshot: http://www.mobygames.com/game/shots/p,3/gameId,7659/gameShotId,47967/). (I haven't played that game though ;))

It's easy to do if you have a Radeon 9600 or above. All you have to do is go into the display options, go to Smartshader and select black and white. You can also choose "Classic" which puts everything in a sepia tone.

Damn, I've buggered my monitor right up now, trying to get it into black-and-white. Thanks a lot guys!

That's beautiful. Is that available on other Radeon or GeForce cards?

Would you kill me if I just called you Droch?

As for your question, I have no idea.

Laugh. No, not at all.

As for your question, I have no idea.

Ah, pity that.

Can you achieve a similar result by messing with the color/saturation slider thing on the monitor?

That won't make it black or white or anything I don't think. It will just make the colours look deeper and stuff like that :p

I imagine if you turn saturation all the way down you'd get greyscale. I've just checked and my monitor doesn't have this option anyway.

I don't think CRT monitors establish their colour like from that. What I've just assumed from having a look in my own monitor's settings, it starts off as pure green rather than greyscale, and then red/blue is added upon that to get the right balance of colour.

Anyway, nvidia's drivers do allow you to display in greyscale, I remember once achieving it whilst I was screwing with my colour balancing in Tribes 2. I've forgotten how I did it though, and can only tell you that it is possibly. :~
