of course there will be critters !!
the scene in TPM where those Trade Fed tanks come over the hill and those little animals run away...
the wildlife on tatooine...
the swamp-creatures on Naboo...
the pets on a Rebel base.. :D

There had better be critters!

I want to see Wampas, Krayt dragons, Mynocks, eopies, dewbacks, taun-tauns, womprats, sarlaccs etc.

It isn't star wars without 'em!

I really want a see a Giant Space Slug ala ESB. But somehow I don't think it would work out ;)

in space battles, he could pop up out of an asteroid and eat one of your fighters / ships....

(Space-slug: "allright ! these once don't slip out ! hehe..")

no, i have the feeling i'm the only one...
:D :D :D

yeah, we talked about Krayt Dragons a while earlier for a possible Tusken civ.
there was some debate on whether or not they could fly.

by the way.. does your avatar change every now and then ?
cool.

Sorry Leon, I had to actually do Work! ;) Anyways, you will see my Avatar change frequently, for I think variety the spice of Life.

By the way, Krayt Dragons originally were not to Fly, however in the Star Wars Episode 2, The design of Tusken Raider Camp we see will lend creedance to the theory that Krayts DO fly! So it's anybody's guess. I just Wish Lucas would show one ONSCREEN to end this silly debate! :D

And by the way, I believe those were Krayt Dragons in Jedi Knight. they were wingless, stocky, lizard beasts that closely resembled a Anklyosaurus. Wether or not that is/was Lucas's Vision or LucasArts creative liscense, I don't know.

how about the rancor. it could pop out of a sand hole and eat your infantry whole. maybe the snow creature from ESB. it could drag your units and then have them for supper!:D

i think i read somewhere that both rancors and wampa's will be included. think of them as the alligators / wolves / tigers from AOK; they can attack, but will generally leave you alone..

yes, why not have them in there? The space worm would be hard, unless you were playing on an asteroid. :D

You should be able to convert them with Jedi, and then send them to attack the enemy's base.

*remembers mind controlling cows with c4 on them into the enemies bases in RA2* that was fun. :D

I would love to see mouse droids running around the battle field!

yeah, and you could blast them !!
but in the movies, those droids were actually messenger-droids. so maybe you could get a secret message to an ally using mouse-droids ...
 Havoc Stryphe
08-03-2001, 8:31 AM

couldn't you just type the message....? ;)

but blasting 'em is cool. I love the noises those droids make!
 Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 8:34 AM

you could type it, but in the AOK engine, you'd have to press 'enter', then select who you'd be writing to, then write it, and then press enter again.

just clicking on a default mouse droid that always goes to your ally would be a lot less hassle and would even make it part of the gameplay !!
that way you would have both battle-traffic, trade-traffic and communications-traffic!!

hehe, all those terms flying around... 'submersion factor', 'cohesive gaming'... the things they must be thinking of us.

well, since there's two kinds of critters in AOK (critters that attack and critters that don't), what critter do you think won't attack ?

A womprat! :D

mousedroid

eopie

dewbacks (maybe, we rally don't know if they are agressive or not)
 Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 8:50 AM

eopies will be used by the Gungans and Dewbacks by the Empire.
both will be mounted and have military units.

so mousedroids and womprats remain..
womprats were vicious in Super Star Wars (SNES)

I KNOW! But I think that game has little bearing on the Star Wars universe, i always thought of Womprats as just small rodent creatures not unlike our groundhogs. Not very aggressive. of course, that was before I played Star Wars on SNES! :D

on a side note, though very much a part of EU, vornskyrs and ysalimarri would prove to be some nasty anti-Jedi creatures on maps! and as far as it being EU, almost every expansion idea in these forums is EU, so I guess it wouldn't be TOO MUCH of a stretch.
 Paragon_Leon

those are actually very valuable suggestions. especially ysalamiri. they could have a force-less bubble that works like the shields in the game, and it would disable all jedi's abilities..

very nice..
 Havoc Stryphe
08-03-2001, 9:05 AM
#29
And Vornskyrs actually Hunt Force sensitive individuals, they can smell the force......i guess. That would kinda come in handy for a anti-Jedi unit! hehe....

Yeah, that's what I was thinking of the ysalimaari, a bubble that negates the force, like a shilds bubble. it would be very nice to put a few of those around the map so Jedi couldn't "stealth".
 Paragon_Leon
08-03-2001, 9:11 AM

bounty hunters are already confirmed as the counter against jedi stealth, so alas.. no go.
still ysalamiri would create parts on the map where you have to get in without jedi. it adds depth, and that's good for a critter..
 Havoc Stryphe

I understand that Bounty Hunters are a jedi counter unit, however, I feel that not every Civ should employ Bounty Hunters, I feel that diversity would be nice, maybe a future civ in an expansion would use vornskyrs instead of bounty Hunters.

I mean, some have already mentioned wanting to see the Vhong as an expansion civ, and feel it unnecessary for them to have Jedi, since they have no force sensitivity.

If people believe that not every culture has to have Jedi, why should every culture have Bounty Hunters. Diversity among the Civs, let's not make this a Warcraft, where every unit has an exact duplicate on the other civ, just adifferent color and name!
Or even less involved than that, why couldn't they be neutral craeatures on the map, that had a distinct liking for Jedi that wandered too close. ;)

i agree with you on all of that, but it is probably better off in the bounty hunter-discussion. i'm sure there's one around... ;)

Actually my theory, because it is not exact, half belongs in this discussion. That is, of course, if Vornskyrs end up being critters with a apetite for Jedi ;)

However the other half of my theory does belong in another thread...I digress...sorry :o

Back on topic....

That seals it...I will now launch a full campaign of lobbying Lucasarts for the installment of Vornskyrs and Ysalimaari into either the 1st edition or future expansion of GB.

I have been charged by God, all those who oppose me will feel the wrath of many a wampa  ! I swear, by the force, I WILL be victorious......

Your sarcasm is not completely lost on me.... I'm am simply adding dramatic support to my above stated desire to see certain creatures in the game. In addition, I am only tying to have fun and spur homurous discussion on topic.

Just a little litehearted banter that is all. You should join in, release yourself from the pressures of day to day living and spread your creative wings.

Plus it gets real boring in here at time when there is limited amounts of posting occuring, so boring in fact, I believe my medication can't combat the boredom....

that would explain a few things.... ;) :D

Sorry if I have offended or "cheapend" your discussion in any way TIE guy... :o

Maybe the Vornskyr's and Ysalamiri would start out roaming free but then they could be captured by any of the civs and turned into anti Jedi weapons...but there is a risk the Vornskyr's would turn on that player's Jedi. The Ysalamiri would also cause problems for ANY Jedi that gets too close.

a like the mouse droids and force-sensitive animals

how about jawas (which would attack only droid units) and tusken raiders(sand people) on the taatonine tileset?
 RogueJedi86

The Jawa thing wouldn't be fair, especially for the Trade Federation(all droids). On a Tatooine map tile, people would just keep luring unsuspecting Trade Federation players into Jawa herds so they'd be destroyed and leave their base open for attack.Still....it'd teach you a thing or 2 about scouting ahead with 1 unit instead of with your whole army. Actually a bad thing that could teach a good lesson. Still,I'm for TF 100% so no Jawas please. Also for the robotic villagers, like if you started on the map with a jawa force nearby, your economy would be severely devestated just because villagers suck at taking almost everything.

What about the jedi having yasmilari on them to pass the vornsk? and the Imperials could capture enemy men and torture them(with the interrigation droids) to find out information! That would be cool also they should have the Sarlaac to eat people on Tattoine! The rebels could get Ewoks:ewok: to dismantle or capture AT-ST's!:eyeraise:

Boba,

the Sarlacc-idea sounds like the most logical one and easiest to implement. It takes one spot on the map and if your troops might get too close, they could get 'drawn in' by the tentacles.
It's certainly possible and here's hoping LArts pay attention..
