The new Catalyst 4.11 driver should fix all your problems.

Extract from the ATI Technologies's website:

Fixed in this driver:
....

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The Windows XP operating system no longer randomly fails to respond when loading multiple levels

You can get it here (http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html)

nVidia slave! You don't want to support Canadian products by buying an ATi card! Oh wait you don't have to...

ugh nevermind...Good thing about the drivers though. Been playing for awhile without a crash.

Well, crashing was never my problem, its more in the lines of the 'Frame buffer Effects' not working on any drivers above Catalyst 4.3
