Almost there.
I'm a little worried about the color schemes so I'm posting some samples.
Wich one do you prefer?

Color:
http://i12.tinypic.com/6bm4bdh.jpg)

Yellow sepia:
http://i17.tinypic.com/6821yk5.jpg)

Orange-red sepia:

Red sepia:
http://i13.tinypic.com/6bm3zls.jpg)

Brown sepia:
http://i19.tinypic.com/6c60i8l.jpg)

I like the orange-red sepia but that's my preference.
I'm thinking on sending the finished Ad to Tim Schafer but I don't know if he would accept it.

Wondering what the text says?
Something as follows - in spanish, obviously:

"Kids! It's time for BIG FANDANGO

Yes, little ones! It's the new game
from the creator of Full Throttle,
Tim Schafer!!!

What's happening
in the spooky
WORLD OF THE LIVING?

Find out in

BIG FANDANGO

I like them all, but my favourites are the first and the last. The first one has a great colourful atmosphere and the last one looks like a real classic. The second one isn't bad either, and makes me think of lemons.

But above all, I like your idea of making up a similar game set in the Land of the Living and then making the ads as if you're marketing it to the dead. :D

Way cool. Colour and orange-red all the way, besides. =)
The text is hilarious. ArteLoco indeed.
...Though doesn't really strike as a potential story for kids.

I'd much rather have a skeleton than a game but that might just be me.

I actually like the first one the best. It seems more like how a cheesyish commercial would be toned. The green-toned one gives off a weird air...as if I'm not suppoused to know what is going on. The orange red looks very nice but gives off this very mellow tone which conflicts with the skeleton's expression. At the same time....he is a skeleton so it sort of works. The red-speia has a little more "power" behind it but the skeleton's suit is too bright and makes that the main focus. The brown sepia is nice but makes me think of old times and not advertisements which try to be colorful and attention-grabbing.

My two cents

Anyway, I love those drawings. They're truely amazing! By the way, I like the first one in color. I think it's looking like an advertisement for a cartoon-movie. I think that the colors, maybe are the the reason for that :)

Pretty cool, that. :)

I think if you reworked it to look more detailed and made the eyes a bit more Manny-like in personality (he seems a bit wide-eyed, almost seems naive) it'd be a great piece.

Anyway, the site just update the NEWS and JOBS part so you won't find me on TEAM.

I doubt any game companies would care for the box art. Since Grim Fandango is barely acknowledged around Lucasarts.

plus elbiolin just mentioned he/she is working for Powerful Robot Games. This kind of stuff can catch a game companies eye when they are looking through a portfolio, and may even strike up a conversation like "Oh I LOVED Grim Fandango!"

Hence the moral of the story, MAKE MORE GF FAN ART!

Have you guys seen Casablanca, even if you dont like the movie itself (which is not possible!) Grim Fandango players will have fun seeing the connections between the two, especially the first part of the movie at "Rick's" and Rubacava.

Well while we're on the topic of who the game designers probably intended these charaters to be based off of, how about Sal as Che Guevara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Che_Guevara)?)

In our media studies classroom there is a casablanca poster, although i have never seen the film, i can relate all the characters to someone from grim fandango.
Hold on ill see if i can find it..

EDIT: Here it is

From Top Left to Bottom Right: Police Cheif Bogan, Hector, Domino, Sal, Haha Glottis, Meche, Manny.

You should watch the movie. After that you would associate that third character with a completely different character from the game. ;)

Thank you for posting your artwork, elbiolin! Your interpretations of what they looked like when they were alive are absolutely amazing.

I'd like to ask for your permission for something: may I please use some of your GF fanart for icons and such over at LiveJournal? I would give full credit to you. Rest assured that anything featuring your art would be tagged/watermarked to identify that YOU were in fact the one who created them.

Well, it's been a long time! Yesterday I was updating my blog and found some Grim Fandango pics in an old CD to upload and today I heard about GF remaster for PS4 and came here to look for those pencil illustrations I did some years ago.

I don't know, there's too much to say. It amazes me that VampireNaomi, like she says, still has my drawings and also, for those who said "nobody's interested on old games", I've been on three diferent videogame companies since then and I'm on the fourth now. Nobody saw coming games on mobile devices and a love for pixel art and flash social games back then. So it was a surprise for me too.

Anyway, just beacuse of the nature of this thread I'll let you with the link to my blog just in case you wanted to see something of the work that I was doing on the last years.
Take care! :)
