Why is the search function disabled?

I'd search to see if someone has already posted this question....but I CAN'T.

The search function is one of the features in vbulletin (the forums script we are using here) that generates the most server load.
It was disabled to keep to loads down for now. We eventually will enable it again, I hope at least.

So don't come back, we won't miss you. Be patient, the reason the search function is disabled is because is uses valuable server resources. Would you rather you had a blank page telling you that there's too much traffic or to be able to post while sacrificing the search feature? :dozey:

I'd rather moderators and administrators also share the pain in not being able to Search.

If we did then it'd be harder for us to track down trolls. You can complain all you like about it but there is a reason why it has been disabled for now and it will return in the future.

Fair enough. You call it complaining, I call it reminding.
