This has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find it on the website. Why are there two discs included with the game? I put the other disc in and it seems to give the same gameplay.
The game has 4 parts (or years), Disc 1 is used for Years 1 and 3, disc 2 is used for ears 2 and 4. You need the right disc in the play the right years. Did you copy the games content over to your hard disc drive or something? That would explain it ;).

It's something to with whether you installed the game fully or not isn't it?
I never noticed a full install option in the installer. But, with the patch comes instructions on how to copy the files over to your HDD.
In the german version isnt a full installation option, but in the version I bought once in London is.
hmmmmmmmmm
The more recently released "Entertainment Pack version" of Grim Fandango does come with a full installation option.
It must be because I bought the new version. My mom did the installing (she wanted to play it first!) so that must have been it. Thanks! I was hoping it was special game features or something. Oh well.
I found it strange that they jumped between discs like that. Seemed unecessary. But the only part about it that was really annoying was when I wanted to look back on the cutscenes, you can only see the cutscenes if you have the appropriate disc in.
Yeah, copying the files over to the HDD was such a relief ;). If only I had the entertainment pack installed :/
oh i see, i probably got the entertainment pack since i didn't buy it straight away when it came out.
I must have this "entertainment pack" version since it had a full install option. (I went for it.) Sounds like it saved me some swapping, though primarily I figured it would be less wear on the discs and my CD drive.
