Not yet. I was excited as hell to find all the right programs and plug-ins to convert them. I went out and bought Jedi Academy that night. I finally got the models in the game so now I can work on weapon stats, correct hand placement, and finding the right energy for them to shoot (energy, ion, sonic, etc.)

At some point I'm going to have to ask for permission to use these for my ranged weapon mods :D

This is great.

If you're wondering where the E-11 is, I'm probably not going to do that one. Orsan already did a great job on that one using the same methods. Although the difference between he and I is: I plan to release a tutorial on how to do it with links to all the programs and plug-ins as soon as I finish these current weapons. If you want to release the E-11 as your own in a mod and that just doesn't jive with Orsan (I don't think he'll mind), I'll convert it for you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anything that can be imported into 3D Studio Max 6 can be converted, I assume. Quake II, Quake III, RtCW, Kingpin, Half-Life, Serious Sam, and Jedi Outcast should all work. You have to remember that Mdlops (the KotOR import/export tool) doesn't support animations, lightsabers, new models, armors, and the like. If you have a specific model you want converted from a certain game, pm me and I'll see what I can do.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tutorial and links coming soon!

Well Bneezy, that is some pretty darned cool stuff! :D

And to T7 as well those Jango blasters rock!

Can't wait for you both to release them! :D

And that Noghri Staff definately makes me think of Stargate and the immortal words... "Jaffa Kree!"

Now if we could only get the Goa'Uld hand weapon that would rule! I could definately see that as a weapon of a Sith Lord! :emperor:

Once again awesome work Bneezy! :D

Hey not to be a grumpy Gus but hello…. what all the fuss about ? The only person that deserves credit is T7 for learning to model from scratch with tut’s and my help on IM just about a month and a half ago.

Wow I mean Bneezy you have successfully converted a model with tools in milkshape .md3 to > 3ds to > mdl with mdlops >mdl and mdx for kotor …. Big deal, how about a model of your own ?

I’m seriously not at all impressed, and the rest of you can hate me. But if there is one thing I can’t stand it’s rip off artists. So great work on learning how to convert models from one format to another here’s a medal ……

Ouch.

I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about models, so I might not have a leg to stand on here, but regardless of how he did it, Bneezy appears to have added something new to the game.

Truth be told, none of us (with a few possible exceptions that I can't think of right now) have created any thing truely unique. Modded some weapon attributes...weapons already in the game. Some new skins...look cool but skins were already there. Recruit mods...NPC's already provided by Bioware.

Again, there's probably a signficant point that I'm missing and I'm probably setting myself up to eat crow, but I do not think that bneezy has done anything to warrant your contempt Svosh.

Wait, if Bzenny was able to convert them and get them to work in the game, then if we made our own models saved them in JA format (I don't know what that is), but then couldn't we have new gun models?

i think jedi academy is .glm same as outcast, also nwn models are easily put in game as they use the same format as kotor

We could have any weapon models accept Light sabers. There is no need to save them as another format that would just complicate things. The way cchargin has worked it out works fine.

lol, wow. Thank you to Achillies for saying what I hope we all think. MOST mods are just modified in some way to make the game better and more enjoyable. I know Talchia's Padawan MOD just let you be a jedi from the beginning and gave you a lightsaber. Now, Bioware already let you be a jedi in the game and they created the lightsaber. That doesn't mean that Talchia didn't add something that made the game funner. That was my favorite and first mod and added replay value for KotOR. I didn't really set out to say that it was my own creation. I was just excited as everyone else when I found out how to do it. So, thank you again Achillies. I'll have the links to the plug-ins up later today. Although remember...I diidn't create these plug-ins, the programs they plug into, the websites they're hosted on, the HTML language they're written in, or the Internet in which everything is dependent on. I just linked to them.

Ok I can see I need to explain my self a bit more. These are not new to many of us that have played JKA , they are in fact the property of Raven softwear. So I guess they won’t be up for dl on pcgm. All I’m saying is I’m not impressed… by converted model from an other game.

What I am impressed with is the amazing contribution T7 has made that only a few people commented on. Why am I impressed by it because I know for a fact he made it !!!! In fact this is his first ever 3d model and it’s a really excellent model he deserves great accolades for, it shows what you can do if you put your mind to it. I have seen it in my own game and screen shots of it in his game. So no Bneezy rip off convert of the jango’s blaster won’t be in the game if he doesn’t get permission to use some one else’s hard work. But T7’s will the one he modeled from scratch like the rest of us.

Anyone can edit formats of different game models with the right tools and plugins.

What T7, TemporaryTomato, Weiser_Cain, jrc24, my self, and it appears lowiej, and a few others are working on are new models. Not coverts from jko, jka, or any other game… they are truly new models.

Is this what svosh is so mad about? This is the only thing I can think of. If this was it, I'll explain it all a little better.

If you're wondering where the E-11 is, I'm probably not going to do that one.
I'm not.
Orsan already did a great job on that one using the same methods.
He did.
Although the difference between he and I is: I plan to release a tutorial on how to do it with links to all the programs and plug-ins as soon as I finish these current weapons.
I did. Those are the tools I used. Most you probably already have. The instructions are straight forward. Cchargin's tutorial is all you need really. If you need help with anything, just search the internet for a KotOR modding forum. If you can't find one, let me know and I'll laugh at you.
If you want to release the E-11 as your own in a mod and that just doesn't jive with Orsan (I don't think he'll mind), I'll convert it for you.
I will and he (I'm assuming Orsan is a he) won't mind.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Neither he nor I created any of those weapons, we just found out how to do it. I asked him how he did it and he told me he just read cchargin's tutorial. What he forgot to mention was how he got the models form JA into gmax. When I looked at the .MD3's, they were only the first-person view models, which meant the bottom and right side was missing. The whole models were in the .GLM's I later discovered (although I'm sure someone discovered it first). I was happy to find the importer and cchargin's tutorial took it from there.

lol..If any of you watch family guy ( and I hope you do), this reminds me of the episode when Peter played the piano demo and pretended he was playing the keyboard himself in the electronics store. Then that guy walks up to him and says, "Wow, you're really good!" Then Peter takes his hands away and the demo keeps playing on its own. Then the guy says, "Hey, you're not really playing that! You're a Phony! Hey everyone, look at this great big phony!" That guy pops up throughout the whole episode harassing Peter. He's outside Peter's house spraypainting "phony" on his car and screaming it at the house. lol, that's this reminds me of. Man, I hope you saw that one.

I just want to make this known:

I liked playing through KotOR as a Jedi from the beginning (thanks to Talchia's Padawan Mod) and as Revan in full cape and mask (thanks to Talchia's Carnival Mod.) When I got to the later parts in the game, you had the chance to go lightside as we all know. I always thought it would be cool if you could have a different look when you went lightside. While looking for Revan Mods, I found svosh's Redemption Robes. I still have those. I loved the new look and figured that was a pretty good idea of what Revan could have looked like if he went lightside. There is a lot more to the entire mod, but the robe is essentially just a modified version of Revans original robe. I'm sure you could have removed and reclored certain parts, but the fact remains it is the same robe Bioware created that was modified (heavily) by svosh. Now the finished product was AMAZING, but it was still just modified and not original. The moral of this story: I like svosh's robes and still use them.
