Looks pretty good! I can't see the first picture too well, but it looks like something I would actually use (sorry Colja, looks like you've got some competition).
Just out of curiosity, what does it look like with a darker red for the tattoo?

I was thinking darker instead of brighter. That's a really sharp contrast with the dark color of the armor.

In my personal opinion, I like the first version the best so far, the last two look like the tattoo is protruding out of his head.

Yeah, kinda. That color but lighter (not to be confused with brighter). Malak's original tattoo is so subtle that most people tend to overcompensate with color when reskining him. My own personal thing though. Don't workself silly on my account.
No problem. I'm stopping for the night. Probably gonna learn other tutorials so I can be a modder.
I still have much to learn on Photoshop.
You know I always thought Malak looked queer in that half-cape thing and I still do! However, I really like the color scheme you changed it to. Good job.

The latest one is better than the other two, but as a personal preference I still like the first one the best.

and btw your are modding don’t get discouraged, technically this is re colouring because the texture is still the same all though it’s now grey you still see the mummy wrap on his body. Any ways the only thing I would change is there is a line going down the center of the head in gray. It’s only a pixel or two big so it’s really easy to fix with any of you painting tool’s hold down the Alt key and click the white part of his head to pick the exact same colour now use a 3 pixel size soft brush zoom in Ctrl + space bar + left click to zoom in, Ctrl + space bar + alt + left click to zoom out and paint a tiny area I would use a polygon selection so I don’t paint out side of it hit L on the keyboard to get the lasso if it ‘s icon is rounded hit shift to change to the polygon version click once and start tracing the line between the head and the jaw in the tga it’s just a micro space but to avoid overlapping your colour or bleeding. Paint… hit ctrl + D to deselect the selection then resave and test.

helter, i'd have to a agree with achillies on the tatoo color. just add a bit more red to the maroon color (redskin color), and it'll look really good (which i think is what he said). by the way, if you are modifying anything in a game from its original context, you are a modder. so don't get technical with the 'retexturer' and 'reskinner' terms. besides, if they make you feel second rate to the 'modder' term, don't use them.

I like the first one. The darker red looks a little too bright for me, but this is your mod/retexture. I suck at Photoshop so don't mess with re-texturing very much. (I am slowly learning by editing my digital pictures!)
I would suggest you use whatever color you like the best.

Agreed. You seem open to feedback, which is good, but ultimately this is your mod and you need to be happy with it regardless of what others have to say about it.

Huh? It's black and red...the same colors that he was before, but he reversed them. Changing the skin to be mostly black seems pretty reasonable to me, but that's just my opinion.

Currently, I'm trying to learn what the various parts of the tga texture. I'm also trying to learn what the names like N_DarthMalak01 and N_CaloNord01 represent.
To user Glamador, I don't know how to give you the cape alone. I did a re-color to N_DarthMalak01.tga using Photoshop. Guess I can post the whole thing. I just have to figure out how.
You guys really want this? I haven't yet found the file where Malak is shown jawless so I guess I'm not done yet.:rolleyes:

Hehe I guess your kind or right about the directions Achillies, I didn’t intend it to be so confusing oh well it takes a lot longer to describe it then to do it . it’s like a 2 second fix up.

And I think pro athletes a bunch of babies getting millions for doing what they love and still not being satisfied with that they choose not to perform well, if it suits them. I have no time for that. Never did like team sport. No offence intended people, and back on track now.

hmm, i hope i'm not the only one that can't live w/o sports, although i have to agree with y'all bout them guys bein paid 2 much ($243 mill to play baseball for 3 years, thats just way to over the top).
back on track, i think that helter is doin a fantastic job of simply improving the original malak skin, rather than completely redoin it. sometimes, the orginal just needs a few touch ups to be perfect.
Is it normal for your eyes to burn after using photoshop? Or is it just me. Seriously my eyes have been burning and leaking since I started modding. Maybe I need to get used to it.

i really like wat u did...alot...i loved the concept so much that i took the textures and added them to my own combo of malak robes (now he has black body, abs, silver chest plate, brown boots, blood red cape)...looks hot, great job
