Force Power Cost Revisited

I asked about this a while back and made changes based on their recommendations.

But I was fooling about today and wondered if this would work:

To make a lightside player be able to use darkside force powers at lightside cost: can I just copy the forceadjust.2da numbers for lightside over to dark? Example:

Lightside
0 (max) costs 1.75

Darkside
0 (max) costs .5

So for a darkside player at max darkside, the cost is .5 for a dark power and 1.75 for a light power.

If I change all the numbers for Darkside to match lightside will that mean that a lightside player can use dark powers as if they cost as much as light? Basically the two columns in the file would be identical.

The reason I am asking is that I want to ensure that doing this with the forceadjust file does not mess something else up and* that it works as I am intending.

Thank you :)

Thats the most helpful post i've ever seen :p and i dunno, either but Achilies, how ever basic it may seem, is probably the best way to learn, well and a tutor to boot :D

If you copy the darksie costs directly to the lightsaide lines then any lightside power you use will cost you up to 1.75 times normal when you are a lightsider.

Take heal for instance.

Normally it will cost 20 force points for Jolee as aneutral to use. A LSer will be charged 0.5 times the amount or 10 force points. A Dser will be charged 1.75 times or 35 force points to use it.

If you copy the DS line to the LS line then a LSer will be charged 30 force points to use heal in this case.

Only change the DS powers to the same cost as the DS lines rather then all of them. This will prevent a full LSer ebing charged far more then they usually would be if you left the figures alone.

i was being sarcastic, but also agreeing with you, to try it then find out is the one of the best ways to learn, but its easier if theres a tutor to go with that

I see. What I meant in my post was that I was copying the Lightside costs to the Darkside costs so that (in theory) at maximum lightside the costs would be the same for both dark and light. Truly though, I am unsure if it is a sound approach. I just do not know much about it.

Normally it will cost 20 force points for Jolee as aneutral to use. A LSer will be charged 0.5 times the amount or 10 force points. A Dser will be charged 1.75 times or 35 force points to use it.

Right, so in your example I would be copying the 0.5 over the 1.75 for DS. So both would be 0.5. This is why I think that it will work. I hope :)

Only if you want the DSers to be charged a really low price to use the LS power

this is proberly a better way of putting my example:

power ls n ds
heal (ls power) .5 1.0 1.75
choke (ds power) 1.75 1.0 .5

in that example youd leave heal alone but change choke so a LSer can use it cheaply would end up like

choke (ds power) .5 .5 .5

to make heal cheap for a DSer you would do

heal (ls power) .5 .5 .5

making it so all three groups can use it at that low cost. though if your going to do that you could just lower the actual fp cost of the power anyway.
