When I run the asteroids_ded.bat file, I get this error in the console:

Can you use the asteroids.bat file to create a solo game or is it only for joining one? When I start a team FFA match, I just spawn in space and die instantly.

You can only play the Asteroid maps in TFFA. Do not do not do not try them in FFA.

I was playing it in TFFA and I just realised I needed to download the 1.01 update for it to work. Well.. I downloaded that and now when I load the asteroids.bat, the game crashes on the load screen for the main menu and when I load the asteroids_ded.bat file I get yet another error:

As they incredibly well-written, thorough, and beautifully illustrated manual *cough* explains, asteroids_ded.bat is used to create a dedicated server that others will play on. If you want to play a solo game, or host a server that you will also play on (not recommended because of performance issues), use asteroids.bat to start the game.

However, the asteroids, asteroids2, and siege_destroyer2 maps don't have bot support, so solo games will be limited to shooting asteroids and making runs at the star destroyer (you can spawn a bot on the Imperial side so the game will start, but the Imperial bot will just keep jumping to his doom). I tried to botroute the asteroids maps and got the Imperial bots to board the TIE fighters, but they all crashed after launch.

I also noticed this:
\mapname\mp/ asteroids

looks like you have an extra space in mp/asteroids for your starting map. Even one little thing like that can keep a server from launching.

I knew asteroids_ded.bat was for dedicated servers only, but I was willing to try it anyways because the asteroids.bat was only spawning me in space, killing me.

I tried deleting the asteroids folder and the .bat files and unzip the files again, but when I run asteroids.bat the game still crashes on the load screen before the main menu.
What's weird is that there never was an extra space in mp/asteroids.

I just found out MP crashes on the load screen before the main menu even if I'm not running the mod.
