I have been building some of my own maps but I'm having problems making my sky look real. At the moment it just looks like a texture put on a brush, but the skies I see in other maps look like they have more depth to them. I have the " Sky, oh my " tutorial but this has not helped. Can someone please tell me the tricks to making the sky look real?
This site has a tutorial on how to apply the sky shader

You might have to register to get access to the tutorials.
In radiant, open the skies texture library and use the "little" sky textures, e.g: for a bespin sky there'll be a total of 7 textures:
bespin_up
bespin_dn
bespin_ft
bespin_bk
bespin_lf
bespin_rt
and a tiny little sky blue one, with sky written in black with the name:
bespin . Use this one.
thanks again codja x and mercenary. I have been stumbling around trying to get it right for ages now :D
Do i have to make a shader file for my custom map, for it to read the sky texture properly? or is that only when you create a custom texture?
If you're using a sky that's included in the game you don't have to create a shader for it. If it's a custom sky then you have to make a shader and include it in your pk3 along with the sky textures.
Sweet!!! thx heaps for the help :D
