Is there a way I can make a jet stream like behind a ship or something? Maybe would it be like a fire or is there a way to reoeat a texturelike on the lightsaber glow?

thanks | :x-wing: (insert jet stream here)|

You'll be needing an fx_runner if it's a static model.

If it's a ship you're modelling then that's a whole different ball game....but still uses efx files

You want the ship to be moving with the effects following it?

the path for the effect file is:
"ships/xwing_exhaust"
thats what comes out of the xwings exhust funny enough
or if your looking for a non xwing effect ttry this:
"ships/jet"

no, my ship is stationary, but I want the effect of movement, how could I make that exaust look like its moving without actually moving?

umm, the size of the "engine" I want the smoke/laser trail coming out of is 768*768*40 (ie: a square)

http://server5.uploadit.org/files/Ockniel-engine.JPG)

I need the smoke or whatever to come out of the selected engines.

Just as has been said....fxFile with a value of ships/xwing_exhaust or ships/jet and set the angle pointing away from the ship.

You may wanna read this (http://richdiesal.jedioutcastmaps.com/tutorials/en220lsn2.html) if you're confused about the terms "fx_runner" and "fxFile."

Basically, if you create an entity fx_runner and give it the key/value fxFile / path_to_effect.efx, the entity will generate that effect repeatedly. Just move the entity to the position of your ship's engines, and target the entity at an info_notnull (or, alternatively, give it an angle key) in the direction you want the effect to play. Also, tweak the delay or wait keys ont he entity to determine how often the effect will fire.
