I've searched (JO and JA Mapping) and found such advice as "func_plats are evil don't use them" and "use a func_door instead". But none address the issues I'm having *L*

1. I followed, step-by-step, the RichDiesel Tutorial on func_plats and thus have the right checkboxes checked etc.
2. Yes my func_plat is at the top point.
3. Yes I run a compile with - vis
4. No, I'm not using any dodgy or _noclip textures
5. Yes I have triggers in the right place, facing in the right direction and all that jazz.

Issues.

func_plats
During the compile all of my func_plats disappear
(this was on another thread but the answer given I have already tried)

Switches/func_doors
The doors open before I get to the switch and the switch doesn't respond to the USE button.

Misc Combination
I have an area that is accessible by (sadly) func_plats. Once in that a switch can be pushed to shut the doors, secluding the area for private battles (etc). These doors only respond to this switch. Except they don't.

Maybe if the first two are resolved I can figure out why the last one isn't working. But yes I've searched and I don't have time to play with Google *lol*.

Any help at all would be great.
Though I do begin to wonder if the answer isn't just to start again...

I know it's only two days later, but I still haven't found any answers. If anyone can even guide me to where to find the answers that would be a great help. And I've looked on map-center and searched here. Thanks :)

1- how complicated is your elevator?

2- Have you nocliped underneath the floor to see if it just went to far down?

3- Is it a solid block or a skinny platform?

1. Not at all, right now it's a platform
2. Nope, but I can try...however I did reduce the value drastically which didn't change anything.
3. It's a skinny platform, should it be of greater substance?

Ok, I have reconstructed the offending lifts and they work automatically. Haven't dared try with a switch yet *blushes*

Anyhow, I have tried to add a sound (you know using the inbuilt "sound" button) but it doesn't play. Am I missing something or just being stupid?

You mean adding a sound key to an entity such as func_door?

You need to use a soundset key instead and specify a soundSet from assets0.pk3\sound/sound.txt
