Ok, I made a fx_runner with the key fxFile and the vaule powerbolt_long (if anyone can recommend a more "lightning'ish" effect, plz let me know). Anyway, i targeted this at a target_position. In the fx_runner, i checked the flags- "startoff" and "damage". And since I wanted the lightning to be triggered, i made a switch with a trigger multiple, and targeted it at the fx_runner, so I could toggle the lightning ON and OFF. Now, when I test it out in game, I can use the button, but nothing happens. Anyone know why? :(

Value powerbolt_long...

...all I'll say is there is NO file base/effects/powerbolt_long.efx

You should be able to see your fault from that

Well, I don't have time to look into this, but it seems that you've forgotten to enter the folder which the fx file is in, eg. base/effects/*folder-name*/powerbolt_long.efx.
I think there should be one, for I seem to remember that there are no effects directly inside base/effects.

Go and re-read my post...

...all I'll say is there is NO file base/effects/powerbolt_long.efx

Is that true or is that true? Read it over and over until you realise that that particular file does NOT exist. I was trying to drop the hint about the path mistake you made by telling you a fact....obviously didn't work!
