damn... i had heard they were both 3 months early (theatrical in may, extended in august). THe theatrical release date doesn't really matter much as by now everyone knows it is worth just hanging on for the better version.

Gah, why can't they push up the Extended Edition release to May?!

Oh well...I'll just rent the theatrical version now and buy the Extended when it comes out in August...:(

its still in the cinema. heck, it might still be there in may. Why rent? just watch it once a month until august and then buy the extended.

I'm still hoping the will do a run of all the extended ones in the theatres. They did a few FOTR, TT extended showings in the cinemas when ROTK was about to come out, but i couldn't get to any.

Sweet!!!

Yeah, the Extended Ed's are long, but they're worth it, especially for a true fan of the novels, trust me.

It's only 9 days before my birthday. "Give us it, we wants it, it's our birthday, precious..." goes off chanting like Smeagol/Gollum...

Apparantly, the 6 disc trilogy boxset (http://www.playserver4.com/play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=160768) will be released on the same day (25th May), but theres no point in me getting that seeing as I have the other 2 on DVD already.

Looks ok, but i much prefer the look of the extended editions (green, brown and ?red? weathered leather books). I'd rather have te three of those side by side on my shelf than that box set.

I'm drawing the line at buying the extended ones though. I'm going to be strong and not do like i did with starwars and buy every new version of the films that is released.

Back to cheer again!!!!

*precious, precious, precious... we wants it! Give it to us, precious!!!*

Anyway, I'll probably stop at the Extendeds, just b/c I don't need any more. Unless they release some Ultimate Extra Special version of awesomeness. Then I'll get that too. But I'm not going to pay to buy the same stuff I already have...
