Yes there are around a hundred Star Wars avatars, for instance, brimming with original goodness. Some are good actually. Finding your own somewhere is the best.

Where'd that monkey and machine gun come from anyway? Is he a rubber pants commando (blip?), or from somewhere else?

^ It’s from metal slug, perhaps the greatest arcade game ever. Like Steve Purcell comics, the backgrounds in the game bustle with animation. Nazi’s sunbathe; signs can be shot to revel humorous messages, you ride camels with machine guns attached.

I know Metal Slug, its great (but I suck at it)! I just didn't know it had monkeys in diapers with machine guns. I need to find it and play it again, clearly.

Metal Slug always did amaze me with its shear detail and its excessive animation, I love the style. I'm not sure if you could call it the best arcade game ever, but it is one of the best looking ones.

Erm - if the avatars arent sorted alphabetically I don't know how to find them.

As for grouping avatars, I know the new version of vBulletin supports avatar groups natively so you can browse through and sort them by category, so once the new version of LucasForums goes live (whenever that may be?), I'll be sure someone regroups them. For now, just dig around. For now, I just suggest looking under "S" and "M" for most of them...
