I'm going on yet another run through of the game, and I've been trying different combinations of the final confrontation...has anyone been able to find a way to resolve it so everyone was happy (no feud between the adults, the kids are together)?
the best I can do is light side points and 600 xp with them running away and the families still feuding...
I was able to get it so the families would come together, and were planning on constructing a new estate for their children.
I had really high persuade, Improved Empathy, and Affect Mind with that character... I don't remember exactly how... I think it was getting the elders to calm down, and convince them that their children are independent individuals, basically.
I tried it again with another character, that had lower persuade, and it didn't work.
okay, if your persuade skills are good enough here are the correct responses to bring everyone together. you get ls points for even attempting it. but you get ALOT more xp for succeeding.
conversation choices:
(Shen & Rahasia)
- "It was no problem."
- "No reward is necessary."
- Both Shen's and Rahasia's father appear with an armed escort. All party members begin to argue over the situation.
(Nurik & Ahlan)
- "You two just need to calm down."
- "You should try to sort this out together."
- "[Persuade] Shen is capable of making decisions on his own."
- "[Persuade] Children grow up and leave eventually."
- "I knew you two could see reason."
- "Why don't you compromise?"
I guess I'm going to have to push persuade!! I want that to work dammit :p
I told Shen that Rahasia didn't love him and he should leave her... MWUAHAHAHAAA! :) On my semi-lightside playtrough I couldn't find a way to solve it so that everyone's happy though :( So thx, I'll try it on my next playtrough :)
A good persuade skill is highly important, at least if you are trying to play hardcore light side. I got that result my second time through, couldn't manage it the first due to failures on the persuasion checks.
I'm gonna save that quest for after the second star map, that way I can get my persuade up a few levels ;)
don't wait too long, or circumstances will prevent you from being able to go back to dantooine.
and if you save right before exiting with rahasia's man, then you can merely re-attempt it. it is after all only the roll of a die. so if you have a decent persuade skill, sometimes you can get by without having to pump all your points into persuade. it took me three re-loads my second time through to get it. but i got it. :)
Haha yes, it's all a roll of the dice (except in some of the conversations) and when you keep trying and trying, clicking the same sentence everytime, most characters will probably do what you will after enough tries ;)
BTW, does anyone know if the affect/dominate mind feat is any good?
You get Force Persuade options in different dialogue. Much more useful to get NPCs to do what they usually wouldn't do...
Example...
Maybe I can give you 100 credits for taking the gizka?
(Persuade)I really wanted to sell them... how about we call it even?
(Force Persuade)You want to take the gizka.
:D
You have to have atleast Affect Mind to get these options... I believe Dominate Mind is just a more affective version of it... I don't know if these options/powers are tied to your persuade skill or not, though.

I love those powers :D.
Especially because they'll piss off your entire party when you use them "wrong". Eg, if you try to get a better reward or something like that. Its really fun actually :p.

I have dominate mind with high wisdom :D
It's useful to save credits(and to get more if you're a dark sider).
Using force persuade can get ds points sometimes. Be careful about how you use it if you want to be a Light side maniac.

It isn't like Baldur's Gate II were you could get drunk :)
I have now seen the feud three times. My first was as a Scoundrel/Consular, so I had very high persuade and got them to work things out and got max XP. Next, as my Soldier/Guardian, I kept the peace and the kids ended up in the enclave.
This time I'm dark side ... I killed everyone who didn't kill each other, then got even more dark points for lying to the Jedi council about it ...
Mike
hmm i never ended it totally peacefully... it always stopped at the fathers being angry at eachother and the children leaving for the enclave... or everybody shooting eachother to crap :D
i was almost pissing in my pants when I saw the "kill! kill! kill them all!" dialogue option when I was playing darkside :D
Haha I got my affect mind feat pretty late on in the game, but it has been pretty good so far, even though I only used it once...
I had Zaalbar kill Mission after I took Bastila as my dark side apprentice, mwuahahaa!!!
Evillll isn't it ;)

I still laugh when I think of the Mission - Bastila exchange on Tatooine regarding casual use of the force ...
And HertogJan, I'll wait until I finish my dark playthrough to read your spoiler ... this is my first time taking affect mind ...
Mike
Thanks... I was doing a replay of this game and found this thread. Hooray for Vestril!
