Here is something still in a WIP state, but usable in game

http://idisk.mac.com/jodonnell/public/z_mayhem.pk3)

This mod is designed for use with the Melee mod (it uses some of the sounds). It includes five new weapons, two with new effects.

Buster Sword - Cloud's sword from FF7. Locked to Strong Stance. This one is the most complete (in terms of texturing) of my weapons. Slow but strong.

Masamune - Can't have the Buster Sword without it's archnemesis. A very long, faster than usual katana. Held upside down in the staff stance, making it difficult to use, but powerful if used correctly.

Tonfa - Farming implement turned weapon, these are used in some types of karate and other Okinawan budo. Held in staff stance if used singly. Increased move and attack speed. Difficult to use (since they parallel the arms) but this is countered by enhanced mobility.

Sakura - A slighty faster, stronger katana. Regular stance set. Design based on Baiken's katana from the Guilty Gear game series. Just like Baiken's katana, a successful hit causes a bloom of sakura (cherry blossoms.)

Fireseal - Sol's weapon from the Guily Gear game series. Held upside down in the staff stance. Stronger than usual. Just like Guilty Gear, a successful hit causes a satisfying explosion. Best used with Dynamic Glow and Dynamic Lights, if you can handle it.

Kwan Dao - A type of Chinese polearm made famous by the Three Kingdoms general Guan Yu. Held in the staff stance. Stronger and slower than normal.

The weapons all have basic textures, and the Buster Sword is the only one so far with real texture work.

Here's a radiosity render of the included weapons:

Using FRAPs, I also took some gameplay videos to showcase the effects of the Sakura and Fireseal. The music in the background is "The Wars of the Last Wolves," a theme from the samurai anime series, Rurouni Kenshin. Both videos are about a minute long, 6MB, and encoded with DivX 5.1

Comments/critiques welcomed! This is a continual WIP, and I plan to add different weapons from various video games/anime series. The next item on the list is the Fuuraiken, Ky Kiske's weapon from the Guilty Gear game series, with its accompanying lightning effects :) I'll also take requests if you can provide some reference images!

Cheers,

James

Could you also make a masamune that can be used as a regular saber and not a staff, like make it face upwards instead of downwards?
