I don't subscribe to this opinion that because I was ripped to pieces by Gerbil after my first post, that I should simply keep away from the place for fear of offending the regulars.
We have the right to post on any of the Lucasforums, and I personally enjoy the different personalities that can be found across the different forums. If the regulars of that forum don't like us, I'd expect replies to our posts to be at a minimum, and would assume that the personalities of the people on that forum were perhaps too different too my own, and wouldn't post as often. When I post on the Indy forums I won't tell you "what's what", but I'd expect I won't get told to f*ck off or something similar in my first post there.
You see Mamba, my good buddy, we post here in good humour, it's Gerbil who takes it upon himself every single time to tell us to leave using a variety of obscene language. I refuse to be forced to leave a forum for which I am a member, because one of the locals decides he doesn't like me.
I offered Gerbil the chance to co-exist. All I was asking was that he cut the abuse and let us post here - something which we don't actually have to ask to do
BTW I don't actually agree with Gerbil being banned, but his language and attitude are terrible. I've come to see him as a rather harmless if annoying character, but others would probably find him as shocking as I first did when I first posted here. He can't be good for attracting new members.
Be that as it may, Gerbil has been a member of the Sam & Max community before Lucasforums was even created and the few of us that are left were on EZboard. I can say for all of us thats been around since then, that nobody would want Gerbil to leave after being with us for what? 5 years or more? I don't care what he says. You come here in search of interesting people and personalities and thats cool. But I don't think you've found any. In terms of scaring newcomers away, we aren't exactly trying to recruit. Do you even have any background of being a Sam & max fan? or even have aspirations to be one? Heck, these lengthy messages you keep posting doesn't exactly make me want to come here. I doubt newcomers either. Not exactly inviting towards a newbie who doesn't know what the heck is going on in this mofo to click on a post and be confused as I am. I AM a big Sam and Max fan!!! It was the first PC game I ever bought. Gerbil would have found this out in later posts had he not edited my first ever post from what I had typed, into:-

The bottom line is, if Gerbil had politely ignored my messages, I would have assumed that there were no new friends to be made, and politely toddled off to do my own thing elsewhere. Just because the guy was a member of the original forums for five years, it doesn't give him the right to be abusive to someone he hasn't even taken a day to get to know.

I don't mind new members but I'm not in a recruiting mood. We've had alot of people come and go. It's all good. But people come up in here and I don't hear a damn thing about Sam & Max.

Alright then, I'd love to post about Sam and Max - but considering the treatment I got in my first couple of posts (see above), had a feeling I'd get more of the same if I started posting on the on-topic forums about the game.........after all, I'm no expert, I'm not obsessed with Sam and Max....I just love the game, like I do with all the Lucasfilm point and clicks of that era......
