I presume you have a DVD copy of ANH, and if not - why not! Either d/l one or, if you can, use a video capture card to record from VHS. Then use Hypersnap-DX (http://www.hyperionics.com/hsdx/index.asp)to) take a screenshot and you're in business.

FYI: (site blurb) HyperSnap-DX is a screen capture and image editing tool for MS Windows. It captures screens from standard desktop programs and even those hard-to-grab DirectX, Direct3D, 3Dfx Voodoo and Glide mode games.

If you're wanting an extreme closeup then as I recall, cyberlink's PowerDVD has a zoom function.

With what kinda material are you planning on making them anyway? Just curious..

Oh, and good luck

Hey y'all this is the very 1st post from jonny5

bigyellowbox got me into propmaking.

Glad to see another convert.

I love bigyellowbox sabers.
I've made 2 of em.
I did the VI saber a while back
(about the same time as
the last update at the site)

Its a bit beaten up now but
the few folks who saw it at C2
were duly nonplussed.

Working on an R/C mouse droid
currently progress is a bit slow but
I should have it ready by the
ANH 50th anniversarry celebration.

If you're going to redesign your replica a bit, try to make the grip a little more ergonomic (ie no buttons or protusions in the middle of the grip, else it will be uncomfortable to hold). ;)

that si the site that made me want to make a saber, ive done 2.
beleive me, i am no pro at it, its not easy.
you need skill with tools, and patience.
but my advice to you is to make your very own unique saber, dont copy another, makje one noone else has.
