Many tutorials speak of this magical triangle-showing command. When I set it to 1 why do I see all textures the same as usually?

Textures don't change, but you can see poly's. Well it does in SP.

For MP enable cheats and then type /developer 1. then type /r_showtris 1 and u get the white outline of every triangle in your map.

for SP enable cheats (devmapall) then type r_showtris 1. ( notic the abcence of the /'s in SP.

Thanks, Killa. I'll have to try that developer command... Why is it so that no tutorial that speaks of r_showtris speaks nothing about /developer?
And if I can see the polys what good can it do if the textures are hiding them?

You can see them in a vary clear way, the edges are colored white.

The developer 1 command is only necessary in MP. In SP, it suffices to devmap the map and just type r_showtris 1.
