The Dark Forces CD that came with the Jedi Outcast Collector's Tin, and is also probably what they issued in those Dark Forces Series Three-Packs, claims to be for Windows 95/98.

Now obviously this means it just jumps to DOS FROM Windows, but I'd like to know if this makes it any easier to run DF via compatibility mode in XP?

I know it is possible to run it in XP with some adjustments, I'm just trying to find an easier way.

I recently put my Collector's Tin up on Ebay- I hope I'm not giving away a better version of Dark Forces. :)

The Win9X version is a ripoff. It's identical to the DOS version except that it has a launcher for the dark.exe program that's it.

And it only works if you install it in the default directory.

I got DF to run on Win98SE and Win2kpro, so it shouldn't have a problem with XP. You just may need to visit Yoda's Help Desk (on LA's website) for troubleshooting and installation tips.
