I cought somebody mention a vital component of the AoK system that hasn't yet been discussed. How will Galactic Battlegrounds handle diplomacy, allied victories, and trade? Also, what exactly are the resources that we'll be trading? From the screenshots it's clear that there are four.:amidala:

diplomacy will basically work the same.

now trade... that's different. I can only imagine smugglers replacing trade-carts.

expect the same workings, with a different look

only trade will probably be slightly different

Good points/ questions about diplomacy.

In any case some faction's duking it out will feel bizarre to me. It's going to feel weird if the Rebel's and the wookie's wage war against each other for example.

it may feel weird to some, but that's exactly the fun to others.

I'll definitely try to avoid the standard 'rebels vs empire' set-up..

Why not do both, after all, no one can get along forever, but how can you not play Rebels vs Empire at least a little?

sure,
i don't mean never playing it at all that way, i just mean that i'll avoid sticking to that configuration because that's 'how it's supposed to be'

oh yeah, i don't think that anyone will play just the rivalries. (wookies vs empre, rebels vs empire, gungans vs trade federation, naboo vs trade federation) That wouldn't make for mcuh for for very long.

I think it will be exactly as in AoK, just with different looks.

No, not with all the radical changes Lucasarts made to it! AoK didn't have shields or powercores or jedi!

Yeah, but you have to admit that it will be similar, very similar.

You need not suppose, it will be very similar.

yes it will. and that's exactly what has me going completely ape for this. AOK has proven itself as a be-all-end-all RTS. i used to rant to my friend all the time how great it would be if it would be Star Wars-themed.
wish come true...

LOL. The interface will be the same as AoK but GB is really different from Aok(with the units and biuldings).

...you just mentioned mostly cosmetic changes. except for the air-units and power buildings / towers.

Yeah, that is only the art. Most of teh gameplay is the same, heck, the category of units are exactly the same except with different names.

I didn't meant the whole game. I meant diplomacy and trading.

...which means you can suddenly switch allies and stab your previous ally in the back...

i hated when that happened in AOK...

i like the diplomacy idea. if you were tagging along with other friends in multiplayer and they were running short on resources, you could hook them up. this game will feel the same as AoK, even blue said that AoK players will have a slight advantage for the feel of this game. the only differences are cosmetic and that there are more units to select from versus AoK (i heard 200 or something different types)............

I've figured 2 of the resources, maybe 3. By common sense you realize there has to be wood for the wookies' buildings and if you look at screenshot 9 on the Battlegrounds official websote, you'll see in small white text at the bottom that refers to harvesting froma farm with villagers. So that of course means there is food cuz what else do you farm? And another logical decision is metal or concrete/metal mix for the ships and what not. So maybe that helps.

one of the earliest screenshots (at the top of the shots-page here) shows an R2-unit carrying resources from a Bantha to a mine.. think he'd be collecting Bantha-fodder ?
hehe

more likely that he's loading stuff from the mine on a bantha cart.

...but he's carrying the stuff AWAY from the Bantha in the screenshot.
