"But none of those other times, did you ever act dead," Shadowfox growled. "What was different this time?"
"I don't know really. I didn't act dead either, I felt myself die as realistically as you two saw it. Next thing I knew, I found myself buried in a graveyard when I came to. I don't know really what happened. I guess my job isn't finished here or something."
Shadowfox decided to keep her mouth shut, but she shot Devil Hunter an "I've got my eye on you" stare.
"So you're back from the dead," she finally said. "What now?"
Devil Hunter noticed the look but shrugged. "Tom West didn't exactly stop there when I died, he still thinks you two also killed his parents. But, I did some recon before I got back here. Tom is planning to extract something from a building, I know which, but I don't know what hes extracting. There's 20 or more guards in there, but, as we are widely known, I'm sure we won't have much problem getting the guards to let us in for a 'tour'."
"A 'tour'," Shadowfox said, obviously not very convinced on who she was talking to. "Sign me up for this 'tour' and lead the way."
Devil Hunter noticed Shadowfox's uneasiness, and looked at her straight in the eye. "What? You have another plan?"
Meanwhile, the sun had risen, and 3 persons had arrived to where West was, a sniper, Sean McManus, a demolitions/electronics expert, Jeff Howard, and a master assalut merc, Julio Fernandez. He showed them the site, and some pictures of how it was at night. They started a plan.
"To be honest," Shadowfox replied returning Devil Hunter's gaze, "I still have doubts as to who you are. The whole idea of a 'tour' sounds a little dangerous, but you would like that, wouldn't you?"
It suddenly struck her what she had said and she gasped. "It really is you."
With that, all of her doubts were put aside and she stood up straight. Even so, she was a good little bit shorter than either of the men who stood with her.
"Lead the way," she told Devil Hunter.
Devil Hunter smiled and patted Shadowfox on the back, "I don't blame you for your doubt, I would too if I saw my friend die before my eyes and then just suddenly be here." He turned to Sharpshooter and Shadowfox. "Well, let's go. We have to get there before they do." He headed out the door and started toward the targeted building, checking back every now and then to make sure Fox and Shooter haven't fallen behind.
The plan was set. West got in position, and confirmed everything.
West *Through radio*: McManus, you in position
Mcmanus: Yes, sir.
West: Jeff, how many people in there?
Jeff: About 20, storming this place is going to be hell.
West: Are the explosives set?
Jeff: Yes, I put semtex and C4 on that wall. It will fall.
West: Good.
West turned to Julio next to him.
West: you ready?
Julio: Yes.
West *Through radio*: OK, we're on in one minute
Shadowfox followed Devil Hunter and Sharpshooter as they made their way toward the building. They were not being very secretive, but she knew that they had no need to be. After all, who could be watching at a time when West was overseeing whatever was going to happen here?
McManus: We got people approaching the building
West *Through radio*: You know who they are?
McMAnus: Looks like your old friends
WEst: Blow the wall, NOW
*the wall suddenly blew up, immediatly Mcmanus sniped the two patrol gaurds and started sniping the people coming out from the tunnel. West and Fernandez opened fire on them too.*
When she heard the explosion, Shadowfox sighed.
"Why do I get the feeling they've seen us?"
*West and Julio ran into then building, having killed most of the gaurds near the now blown up wall.*
West: We have to split up. I'm going for the safe, you distract them.
*meanwhile, a nearby military base was alerted to the disturbance, and choppers were already heading to the site*
Devil Hunter took off, running straight into the building, running into the building and getting past any guards that tried to stop him. Seconds later, two bullets hit the ground near West's feet as he headed to the safe. Standing in front of him suddenly, was Devil Hunter.
Devil Hunter gave him a smile, as if everything seemed casual and not an emergency situation.
"I'm back from the grave, West, a message from those who you wish to avenge.. We didnt do it."
West was suprised, but he quickly hid it with a sneer and turned his head around.
West: And I'm supposed to belive you?
He kept walking to the safe.
Devil Hunter was suddenly in front of West.
"What proof do you have we did it? Someone's word? Is that it? No physical evidence?"
He knew that West was suprised at his presence.
"You're only 15, you comprehend much but you would know nothing of those events that happened then. I knew your parents, yes, but I, nor any of my friends killed them, I can easily promise that." He pointed his gun at Tom West, or at least thats what it appeared.
"You have a decision. You can continue working for whoever you are working for, or you can believe me. I don't plan on killing you, but I DO plan on finding out what your looking for, as not many things are important enough to blow down the wall for. And you can order as many people as you want to shoot me, I don't care."
West decided it would be better if he went with this guy.
West: OK, i'll see what you have.
((OOC: Yes I realize I'm posting a lot today, I'm just that bored =P))
Suddenly time around them had stopped. The silver gem on Devil Hunter's Amulet, which was now on Devil Hunter as he had taken it from Shooter without him knowing. Only Tom West, he, Shooter, and Fox could move in the stopped time. Devil Hunter holstered both his handguns.
"Alright, what do you want to know? I can tell you anything regarding your parents or anything that happened then that might have lead up to their deaths."
West: Who killed my parents and why?
"I expected you to ask that... Sit down." He pulled over a chair, despite the stopped time everything was still interactable.
He leaned against the wall and looked West in the eye after he had sat down.
"No one gets their powers from learning them, they are born with them. Your father was a great 'hero' in our group...He had similar abilities that you did. He retired soon after he married your mother. Unfortunately, he had been in the middle of a very important case involving some information about a very serious..someone, I'm not quite sure who, the name slips me at the moment, it was several years ago, after all. Anyway, the information he knew before he was important was very important to that someone, something he didn't want the officials to know as he would be arrested for it, so he had your parents killed, or killed them him or her self. Would you mind telling me what is the name of the man you are doing this favor for?"
*west replied honestly
West: I don't know. I've never seen him face to face.
Shadowfox was in the middle of defending herself when time stopped. The guy she had been fighting had also been stopped and her legs extended completely without hitting anything. She dropped to the ground, barely able to pull into a crouch.
"Perfect timing, Devil," she muttered, knocking the guy over and going to find Devil Hunter.
"That wasn't Devil who stopped time," a voice from out of nowhere echoed. A misty white cloud began to fill the room, and a nearly wolf-like Sharp Shooter entered the room.
"It was myself who did so. I've got a spell book, and I'm not afraid to use it! Heheheheh," he quoted,"A little humor to enlighten your spirits, y'know......" Then his thoughts turned to something else on his mind, something elusive.
"Where's Devil Hunter?"
He waved to Sharpshooter while still near Tom West,
"Over here."
He turned back to West, "I see, but what did he send you here to retrieve?"
West: Again, i don't know, he said it was a document in the safe, something he wouldn't want others to see.
Devil Hunter thought quickly.
"Did he say if you could view it or not?"
West: No, but I wasn't planning to, and he knows that.
Devil Hunter turned and went for the safe.
"There's a good chance there's something very important in there, maybe even linking to your parents that he wouldnt want you to know, or linking him to the death of your parents, and he doesn't want us to get our hands on it to use it as proof against you...and Sharpshooter, you and Shadowfox knock out the guards and unpause time, make it easier on us."
"Done. Time should be back to normal now. As for the guards, don't wor----GAAAHHH!!!!!"
*gets clipped on the side of the head by Julio.*
West *into raido, now that time has resumed*: HOLD YOUR FIRE
Devil Hunter stopped halfway out of the safe and leaped back out into the hallway, guns blazing, and knocks out the rest of the guards with Tranquilizer bullets, then turns to West.
"Take me to the files."
West: They're over here, Fernandez, cover us.
*West walked into the next room, and started hacking into the keypad*
West: if the keypad is destroyed, the whole building goes into lockdown.
Hunter reloaded his guns and began to cover West.
"Don't let it get destroyed then."
Shadowfox was quick to obey Devil Hunter's orders. Within ten minutes, the guards were unconscious and she went to find Devil Hunter. If there was any possibilty that he might die again, she wanted to be there to prevent it.
Craig noticed the guards were unconcious and turned to West.
"Get the files and give them to me before you leave. And don't try your age switching thing. I'll go up and make sure the guards stay out. If you need anything feel free to shout."
He walked back up into the main lobby and greeted Shadowfox and Sharpshooter once again. "Hey, I'm still alive, thank God..."
*West inserted a card into the keypad's slot. Once the card had gone through, 12 numbers appeared. The code contained those numbers. He quickly programmed his portable cracker to try those numbers only and hooked it up to the keypad. 2 minutes later he was in. He walked to a file cabinet and checked all the drawers. Once he got to the second to last he found a single file. This was the only thing in the cabinet. He grabbed it and headed back outside*
WEst: Go it.
"Now what?" Shadowfox asked. She looked to Devil Hunter.
"Now.. we get out of here and look at that information." Said Devil Hunter simply, looking at the unconcious guards.
Shadowfox followed the others back to the apartment and began pacing impatiently as they opened the file. After a little bit, she stopped pacing.
"Well?" she questioned. "What's in it?"
*West opened the envelope, and saw a folder. There was a name scribbled in handwriting. It was his father's handwritting. He opened the folder and saw a lot of paper, with his father's handwritting. It was something about a new criminal kingpin. After that, there were pictures taken of his parents murdered. It was taken by an assasin to prove that he had done it. After that there was a picture of both his parents. His mother, and his father. His father looked exactly like him when he made himself looked older. Tears started to build in West's eyes. He slowly returned to his real age. When he finally did, he wept. For his father, for his mother, for his joining the wrong side.*
Demon Hunter had read the files over his shoulder, and looked at West. He walked over to him and said sympatheticaly, "I don't want to sound cliched, so I won't say I told you so. Your parents were good people. You can help us avenge them, however.
*West looked up at Demon Hunter, fierce determination in his eyes.*
West: I'll do whatever you want me to do.
"Alright, great. Ok guys time to go to work." He thought about the possibilities, and then looked at West.
"Are you supposed to deliver those files to the man in person or get rid of the files? If you do, we'll ambush him when you go to give him the files."
West: I'm supposed to deliver them.
"That's convenient," Shadowfox said. "Where's the meeting place?"
West: I don't know yet, he's supposed to call me.
*West gestures twoards his cell phone*
"I guess the thing to do would be wait," Shadowfox said. She sat down.
(Don't let this RP die!!!)
Craig sat down as well, awaiting for the call that is to determine the fate of our "investigation." He reloaded both of his guns and checked the elements on his amulet.
The phone rang. West let it ring twice before he picked up.
"Did you read the file?" Asked the voice on the other end
"No, I'm not interested in what you've done" Replied west
"Good. Meet me at the corner of Memorial and Sheperd in half an hour"
West hung up.
"We're meeting at Memorial and Sheperd in half an hour."
