what's a good firewall that will allow games through, ie one that allows you to change ports easily. doesn't have to be really simple like zone alarm or netnanny, I can probably figure out most anything.

Zone Alarm works fine for me.
Sygate is supposed to be really good too.

McAffee and Norton are both pretty dicey.
And I don't know anything about BlackICE Defender except the name.

Personnaly, I use Stopzilla (I'm not kidding).
It works really well!

Although you can only get the trial, but there is a way. . . to illegally. . .get a . . .key!
I can't tell you more, the cops would bust my place in 10 secs :D

Stopzilla's main point seems to be that it blocks popups. they are annoying, but sometimes I want them.
