The Official FAQ has this to say about character ageing:

"For certain species, we have an age slider as a facial customization option. This feature adds a couple levels of wrinkles to a character's face (please note, it requires a GeForce 3 or higher card to see). "

Note that it only mentions an Nvidia chipset. I am upgrading soon to a Radeon 9800 Pro. I am assuming that this will also allow me to see the extra wrinkles - Am I correct?

Does anyone have any idea how the Radeon 9800 will render other graphical aspects of the game - Will I be at a disadvantage unless I go down the Nvidia route? The 9800 is supposed to be the Rolls Royce of Video cards so I would hope not.

Perhaps the FAQ is poorly worded but this quote has me worried - I really want to see Galaxies in its full glory.

I'd assume it's just bad wording, because I can't understand why the devs wouldn't support ATI. I don't know for sure though, so don't hold me to it, but I doubt they'd be that crazy.

The term "Geforce 3 or higher" is commonly used to describe how fast/good graphics card you need. A Radeon 9800 is "Geforce 3 or higher". Don't worry. ;)

For Darth Maniac: don't worry! When I'll upgrade my pc I will certainly buy a Radeon9x00 card (now I'm with a Geforce3 Ti200)... I think that the FAQ should be better posted with a reference to DirectX8 card requisite for the game  although I hope that there will be graphical aspects implemented with DirectX9 API :)

Im not talking Old Ben Kenobi age here - I just want to look like I am old enough to shave and to have had some experience in the Galaxy.

My character will be roughly the age Han Solo was in A New Hope.

well, I might just put a pinch of wrinkles to make make him realistic.

I wouldn't mind playing an old guy. Well, not too old, but old enough to give the appearance of having experience in the world.

Oh, and your radeon 9800 will be awesome for this game.

Yeah, the purpose of the age slider is for RP value. You could play an aging BH, hardened by time, or you could play a withering old man who's been running the family business since he was 16.

So... when you get older, does it hinder your abilities... at all, no matter what class? Also, is it only facial features that age, or other body parts... like... old woman boobs... tee hee hee *giggles*

*cough* pardon me...

:deathstar *BBBEERRRRRCCHHEEEEEEE*:deathii:

also i dont want to have a comb over if i'm human... i'll just have to get a nice hat to cover it up...

I know you don't get any ability penalties from being older, but I don't know how it affects your body.

JR- the age slider won't affect the gameplay of your character it's purely for show. :) Some people would rather play the older looking character.
