Just a little warning:

If you have cable DSL, or ethernet, make sure you have a very good firewall or maybe a hardware firewall. I suggest norton firewall if you dont have a software one. the reason I posted this is because there ARE hackers out there and if you have cable, dsl, or ethernet, the chances getting hacked without a firewall is about 70%. dial-up 56k risk of being hacked is like 1% without firewall.

While that is good advice, this forum is not for such advice. Discussions and the like.

Very wrong JerAir. Dsl and cable only get hacked more then 56k connections as they have static ips. :)

But that doesn't mean 56k is protected, as 56k gets flooded the most due to it's weak Datatransfer rate and its bandwith limit. ;)

In both views, both are weak. But Dsl and cable are normally the strongest as it has uncapped bandwith mostly. And its datarate is extremly higher then 56k. :D

I stand corrected, but I can't believe you got hacked on a 56k!

and also there is a cool mini firewall that comes with XP. go to

control panel then network connections then right click on your

internet connetcion, and go to the advanced tab. check the box

and you have a mini firewall! :D

I heard that hackers don't usually hack 56k is because it takes a

lot longer to do so than cable and the others

er, xps default firewall is basically a new form of spyware from microsoft. And 56ks are the easiest to hack and take the less time. :)
