Well the Academy Awards are coming soon and Im glad to see that Ep2 got nominated for best visual effects. It shoud have gotten nominated for much more but as usual the academy has its head up its ass. But what if we were to decide who and what got the awards? So let this be the Lucas Forums Oscar thread. :) Each person posts a list of nominations for all the catagories they choose to nominate for. If youre wondering what all the catagories are in order its like this(I checked the paper):
Best Picture
Actor
Actress
Supporting Actor
Supporting Actress
Director
Foreign Film
Original Screenplay
Adapted Screenplay
Animated Feature Film
Art Direction
Cinematography
Sound
Sound Editing
Visual Effects
Original Score
Original Song
Costume
Documentary Feature
Documentary (Short Subject)
Film Editing
Makeup
Animated Short Film
Live Action Short Film
Honorary Award

Of course you dont have to nominate for all of em as I said before, just the ones you want. After a while I will count all the nominations and post the winners in another thread. Cool? Now lets get to it. ;)

My nominations are:

Best Picture: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Best Actor: Ewan McGregor, Star Wars

Best Actress: Kirsten Dunst, Spiderman

Supporting Actor: Ian McKellen, Lord of the Rings

Supporting Actress: Miranda Otto, Lord of the Rings

Director: George Lucas, Star Wars

Original Screenplay: Star wars

Adapted Screenplay: Lord of the Rings

Art Direction: Star Wars

Cinematography: Lord of the Rings

Sound: Star Wars

Sound Editing: Star Wars

Visual Effects: Star Wars

Original Score: Star Wars, John Williams

Costume: Lord of the Rings

Film Editing: Star Wars

Makeup: Lord of the Rings

Animated Short Film: Mike's New Car

Now It may look like Im totally biased to Star Wars but Im not. I saw a lot of movies last year and SW was my favorite. After looking at all the competion I truly think SW deserves those awards.

If SW DARE get any of the ones you have predicted (in particular, I find the idea of George Lucas best Steve Jackson - NO WAY!), blood will be spilt.

Awards that LOTR : TTT could (and SHOULD) easily win -

Best Movie (Oh YEAH will it win!)

Best Director (Jackson or Lucas... Umm.. Toughie that one... NOT!)

Best Visual Effects (Helms Deep or Geonosis... Really, come ON people)

Best Actor (How could EpII Ewan POSSIBLY be rated better than Aragorn or Legolas. Even YODA deserves it more than Ewan)

Supporting Actor

Supporting Actress

Original Score

Costume

Adapted Screenplay

Cinematography

I will admit to being not too pleased with the PT to date, but how can you SERIOUSLY SW to beat LOTR to the extent you have predicted.

TTT was better. Not just than PT, but the OT.

More polished, better acted, FAR better script, action was more nitty gritty, with sceanary that composed of more than a large wide open space!

Sorry, flame me if you must, but LOTR :TTT was superior in every way. I just cannot stand to see the tripe Beardy has produced beat such a labour of love, and effort. It REALLY would be a travesty.

If EpII wins over TTT, I will PERSONALLY maim the Academy....

Ahem...

STAR WARS

Think about it. You can't compare the two. One's fantasy. One's Sci-Fi. And yes, they are different things. There is a thread to debate this here in the cantina as to which is better...

Well, I love SW, but I am sure there were better things than just TTT and SW...

I totally agree. The debate between the two is effects. I mean, the story for TTT is all from a book, so adaptaion might be what they win as well.

Umm perhaps people didnt read the instructions very well. This is not a debate thread. It is an Oscar thread to post what movies and actors, etc. you think should get the awards. A nomination thread, nothing more. I was thinking that when enough people have posted I would count all the nominations and post the winners of each catagory. Is that too hard to understand? I must say that Im slightly offended of what the people who have replied done. You acted like it was some debate between SW and LotR. Wtf? I posted my nominations now you post yours. How hard is that? If you want to critisize peoples opinions then you came to the wrong thread. :tsk: Shame.
